Also, I'm allergic to alcohol, so don't recommend getting drunk. Is there a "fear-of-flying buddy" group that fly places together?

I've always thought it would be fun to be in a plane. I guess you could bring something to keep you occupied such as a friend to talk to, a laptop, a portable DVD or Music player, book, newspaper. Just remember that airplane pilots are almost always very skilled at their jobs. They go through hard training before they get their license to keep people safe in the air while you travel.

Good Luck!

The best remedy for your fear is to face it. I'm not suggesting cold turkey, but gradually. Any therapist will help you cope with your fear by walking you through it. There are also groups that do courses on fear of flying - it's a very common phobia. If you're that scared, find a good therapist and work on it. You might not get over it, but you at least get off the ground.
As a side note, I had a fear of water and I took sailing lessons. Helped me feel more comfortable on the water by knowing the ins and outs.

Many cruise lines sell one way tickets, especially at the beginning and the end of tourist seasons. The ships will be then be taken from the US to Europe or the other way around. The same happens on other routes.
You will stay with both feet planted on the deck and have a great time on board as well. Sorry, but the cost is higher, but you get room and (excellent) board!

I certainly have piloted small airplane and flown endless cases as a passenger in commercial airways. it is definitely the main secure mode of transportation. you're lots lots greater in all probability to get into an motor vehicle accident than have a mishap with the airliner. commercial airways on the instant have backup platforms for backup platforms. Very, very risk-free. thank you for flying Phoenix airways, get excitement from your flight.
