Okay...are you asking that kind of question in this forum? This is the "Religion and Spirituality" forum, after all.
But, if you are asking that kind of question elsewhere, why shouldn't they answer you according to what informs their worldview? You answer people based on your worldview, why not us? (Or is that exclusively the domain of the non-believer?)

Is your opinion of Christians and religion/church qualified? If so...What church do you go to? How often? Have you read the book they get their ideas from? Did you talk to a qualified minister? If you answered any of the above in the negative, your opinion may not be very well founded. Just out of curiosity, if for no other reason, read the Bible and see why they feel as they do for yourself. God created all things including life itself. God, via Jesus, made the way for eternal life for us. Jesus gave His life for us. Not because we are such nice deserving people. Of our own merit, of our own accord, we deserve nothing. Creation, life itself, eternal life, were all authored and freely given to us by God. But..we must believe. Serious? What's more serious than life itself and eternal life? What does it cost you to read? What does it cost you to believe?...Nothing! If a Christian can't express by whom life began, it's meaning, its finally, then a Christian can't answer the question properly. A person has a free will choice what to believe or not believe. It's up to the person to make the right choice, If a Christian is speaking of religion when they answer you, maybe it's because they care about you.

We cannot help it but many good words have been collected and selected by religions. And many wise men even if it comes from their own mind somehow what they say had already been written in the books of the religious.
Do not take the Christians for it only. All kinds of religious do that idiot!

By definition, meaning is something that has to involve a communication process. Therefore, there can be no meaning to existence without there being something trying to communicate that meaning (as in, god, or some other entity that is using existence to communicate).
If there is no god, there's no meaning to life. That doesn't mean we shouldn't keep living though, and it doesn't mean people can't search for purpose in their life, but they have to realize that that purpose if they find it isn't communicated from some kind of higher power; rather, it's just the series of consequences that has created their existence.
And I'm agnostic, so don't accuse me of being a moron because I believe in god or something like that, because I don't.

I will tell you why i do because when i was little i was taught about this all knowing God who looked after me even when my Dad was gone and my Mom couldn't be there for me. As i got older God has been my only friend and only person i can count on. Now i realize he is everything so why not mention his name in everything i do. he is the only reason we breath the only reason we are on here. You can mock us all you want but us Christians put Religion is answers to help you realize that God loves you. To answer your question simply Religion is God God is everything and everywhere why not mention him? I will be Prayin for you

Look. I'm atheist too...but I'm fine with whatever anyone else wants to beleive. I don't talk about religion with any of my Christian friends, and they don't talk about it around me because they know I don't like it. Just deal with it. Religion isn't going anywhere anytime soon, and if you don't like people's answers to your "meaning of life" question, don't ask it!
Besides, there is no meaning to life. In a million years we'll all be dead and gone...where do you fit into the big scheme of things? You don't. And if you're atheist, you have to believe that. Just be happy and live your life to the fullest. Enjoy it...to me, thats what its for.
(LOL, I just read Kingreef777's answer and it made me laugh. Thats the meaning of life in a nutshell. Listen to him, he knows what he's talking about!)

No, they can't live without their religion. Everything about their live is religion. Their bible defines them like a dictionary defines words. You cannot separate one from the other. They rely on it like the rest of us rely on reason.
I don't consider religions bullshit... I know there are some people who NEED religion to live and breathe. They cannot imagine their lives without it. Faith is all they know.

I HAVE IT! I HAVE IT HERE! HERE!!!!
I know the answer to what you are asking for. The answer without religion involved.
You are alive, right? Well, we are pretty sure, unless you are a computer generated question and statement program.
You are going to die. Nothing you do really matters. They'll even forget Einstien someday. You are going to die.
So live, and die. See ya!
Happy now?

even for an atheist, a defintion of early religion (if it is all made up) is a human's search for the meaning of life.
by the way, the reason you are made, i.e. the meaning of life, is to glorify God. Even if you don't believe He exists, He still loves you. One day when you understand that, all of heaven will cheer for you.

umm... the meaning of life is to eat, poop, sleep, (optional: have a partner and family ),grow old and then pass away?
err.. the purpose of life to make sure that when we eat, poop, age and by the time we pass away, we would have done all of that with at least an 80% happiness ratio ( ourselves and our loved ones at least )? Cannot imagine eatting, pooping, sleeping, aging and then dying in total sadness and depression... how depressing...eek
