She really likes you and it is her way of saying she owns you.
When she is this close when you are busy it is her way of saying she wants to be with you and be part of it in what you do.
Cats keep score.
When you want her attention and she does not respond, then you have done something wrong in her eyes.
For example:
I had a cat who always followed me no matter where I went on my property and would also come when called.
But on evenings when I would not share my food with her, lock my self in or out to eat in peace, she would sulk that evening by sitting in an other room with her front legs tucked under, and not respond or come running when called.
I had to make a peace offering of some small pieces of potato chips.
Then she would come running and all was forgiven and forgotten.
There are books written about cats and what these authors think makes them tick.
Read them.

Why do cats find counters so appealing? Take this quiz to find out:

A. Because they're there.
B. Because cats naturally prefer a three-dimensional environment.
C. Because cats occasionally find food morsels while patrolling countertops.
D. All of the above.

Answer D is correct.

A cat’s character is largely a result of her breeding and early environmental experiences. A cat’s personality is partly reflective of ours. For example, if I have a quite, easy-going manner, my cat will too. If I am a rambunctious, busy, highly expressive person, my cat will reflect that behavior. Like children our cats are a reflection of ourselves. Many of the behavior problems we have with our cats are really within us. For example, to scold a cat for bringing a mouse into the house is really our own reaction to fear or revulsion. To the cat, it is a perfectly natural act. She is a predator. She feels most comfortable returning the prey to her den. Here, she can share it with us without worry of other predators taking it away.

Any change in your cats schedule can affect them and cause stress. When your schedule changes, your cats schedule changes as well. It is important to try to keep their routine as consistent as possible. Make sure you feed them in the same spots; same food, same amounts and you keep the litter boxes clean. Find time to play and interact with them. You may need to change the times you feed them depending on your work schedule. If you can, spend extra time with them and give them some extra playtime.
good luck!

Well, all cats have different personalities. She just seems to want to be affectionate when you are busy at times. Just wanting attention at a certain moment and you might be busy. It's a normal cat thing. Nothing is wrong with her.

My cats are the same way...they don't like when you give attention to someone or something else, and come to demand attention.

that is normal cat behavior. they see you are paying attention to something and they get in the line of your sight so you will pay that much attention to them. who knows why. but they all do it. i sometimes just give up what i'm tryijng to do (usually read) and talk to them instead.

there is nothing wrong with her, cats are independent and they want attention when they want it, if you have kids you will think they dont exist until you are on the phone, on the toilet or cooking, then they hang off you , scream, and fight with each other.
