Many are afraid to preach the Gospel because they want to boost attendance, so they whitewash concepts like sin and repentance. Then we can all feel good about ourselves, and tell each other how lucky God is to have saints like us.

Well Id say the Gospel you are preaching, the one about eternal security is one also sending people to hell. Ive had it preached to me too and it contradicts itself... it says that there are no works involved in Salvation, one must have to believe and once they are saved they're saved forever no matter what... HOWEVER that never seems to hold water when someone is a believer, but a homosexual, or a drinker or an adulterer etc... then you all claim "well they were never TRUELY saved to begin with" well, if thats the case then "eternal security" preachers better get to telling what MORE is nessisary for salvation than "believing" because even they know thats not the only thing involved.

Lack of the Holy Spirit. God sends preachers and too often people feel it is their calling and go to school. In the bible preachers were sent by God to go forth and preach the Gospel not sent to school to learn by man. The Holy Spirit is needed to change the hearts of men and that isn't happening because many churches don't teach on the spirit. To many churches today lean on their own understanding and not Gods. The Holy Spirit came to bring us into all truth and so that we would all be one body in Christ. Using our Spiritual gifts. Yet, churches are at war over petty differences and arguments. That is not the will of the Father. Where there is Unity in Christ, Changing and growing as a church that is where the Spirit is. Too often we see church as a building. But, we are the church! Fewer and Fewer want to give it all to God anymore. That means everything not just a Sunday.

Because it's all become a numbers game... Marketing and presentation outweigh love and concern for one's fellow man and woman... Just gotta wear that pinstripe suit...! The church is far too concerned with the external appearance while ignoring the internal need for unconditional love that needs to be shared with the saved and unsaved alike. Basically, it's regressing to the point of how it was when Jesus visited His religious leaders while He lived among us... It's become a college course in doctrines and procedures rather than the outpouring of love and power that was so prevalent in the 1st century church... Satan used the strategy "If you can't beat' em, join 'em..." Apparently, he's getting better at succeeding at his gameplan... Misery loves company... Compromise has had a very negative effect as well... I've only recently begun to wonder why Solomon wasn't put to death per the Law...? After all, he married women from other nations that led him - and Israel - astray from God... Perhaps we're in the Laodicean church age...? Neither hot nor cold...?

Hello friend,
I can tell you in a lot less time what's right with it.
Sadly, the church that exists today barely resembles the church that Jesus built. And I believe it's largely due to the advent of denominationalism. Jesus built one church which is His Body, the called out ones. It's Ekklesia in the Greek, which can mean "the assembly of free citizens called together by a herald" among many other definitions, and as I've said elsewhere, the Greek has much more depth than the English language.
But friend, take heart, Jesus who built His church is able to preserve it and see it Home safely. May I suggest that we, as born again Christians take up God's Word and become so familiar with it that individually we can impact those around us, whether believer or unbeliever.
And always remember to point to Jesus Christ and give Him the Glory, for He alone is Worthy.
Until He Comes,
2 Tim. 2:7

There is no obligation for churches to deliver the "good oil"... where is that in the Bible??? The great commission calls believers to go out and deliver the good news... not build churches and have people come in on Sunday and listen to a preacher...
That's what wrong with churches today... the fact that there are churches...

Some have wondered from the truth and is not part of the branch anymore because many preachers do not believe in God or in Jesus it is just a job.
Many people only want to hear nice things and do not want to know that Revelations and Matthew 24 is here and that there is a terrible place called hell.
IN the last days those who are filthy will be more filthy and those who are clean will be more clean.

There are many problems with the church today!! They all say that they believe in the truth of Scripture and yet they deny it. We are living in the last days written about in the book of Timothy.
I have belonged to many different Churches and so many have a basic lack of love for one another. Churches today seem to be obsessed with money, building projects, only young families (they put up with older Christians only because they feel that they have to), personality Pastor worship and their own particular brand of doctrine.
When I talk of their own doctrine, I would like to stress that even if you can prove, from Scripture, that what they adhere to is false, they still would rather keep to their doctrine.

My church rarely preaches fire-and-brimstone. It's the TV Evangelists that tend to preach the whole hell-fire and damnation. The sad thing is that it's these people that you more hear. Also, especially in todays society, people tend to be listening more for the negativity and fear rather than the messages of light and salvation through belief in Jesus Christ.

I think the problem is that churches worry more about preaching what they think people want to hear and keeping their attendance high. Then to preach the truth about been saved and risk losing a high attendance.
