definitely call the doctor! it could be normal, but why take any chances? you've got a little baby girl who depends on you, and you've got to be 100% healthy for both her sake and yours. best of luck to you!

Usually, when i have a medical problem, i don't take chances. Yes pain after 3 weeks is problably normal, but if you are having doubts, then listen to your body and seek medical help. You'll really need your intuition, with your baby, always rule on the safe side. Unless you've been told differently by the doctor, call in about anything that seems out of the ordinary and persists for any amount of time. Depending on what it is that could be 15 minutes of light bleeding from a cut, 2 hours of earache or other pain, a day, of light aching pain. use your judgement, but if it seems more serious than you can handle, then seek help. you wouldnt want something tragic to happen to either of you.

If you had a hard birth it could be that you are just healing. I advise you to go and get a thourough ck up.You could be like the lady the other day that had a guaze left in her! There were 2 on Ophrah that said the same thing this wk. I didn't mean to scare you but things happen. You may have a urinary infection also. See yourd dr and be safer now than sorry later!

you might want to at least call and talk to the nurse at your ob-gyn to make to see what she thinks, you could have an infection and you don't want to leave that on going for 3 more weeks,so call and see if the nurse thinks you should come in and pee in a cup to see if you have a urinary tract infection. It might be from tearing of tissues but from what I remember you should be able to pee by now, unless the tearing was really bad or a jagged tear, those take longer to heal.Episiotomy will definitely make you sore for for a while and make walking pain full but if you are barely able to get up from sitting or it hurts too bad to hardly sit ,you need to see your doctor right away.GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR NEW BABY!!!

Call him up. In general, the first few weeks will likely have some irritation, but the doctor may be able to confirm that quickly and identify if there are serious problems over the phone, or ask you to come in. Good luck!

Hi Honey

Yes,I think its normal...on my first I had the epistomy and it felt painful for at least 5 weeks, almost right up to the 6 wk check....it took me nearly a year to feel completely recovered on my first baby!

On my second I had an easier labour and no stitches, recovered much quicker, felt fine by about 2 weeks later.

If you are worried get your midwife or GP to check you over!
No one tells you how knackered you'll feel afterwards do they! You'll feel better soon,so just take it easy!

I had some serious pain after i gave birth as well and couldn't wait for my 6 week check up. It hurt to sit and urinate. I would defintely call your dr and let them know of the pain, mine ended up being an absess, basically a large ball of infected puss. But like you i wasn't sure what to expect, some pain sure, but not like that i now know..call your doctor!

Your body is just not going to be the same again -- C'mon, you are now holding the baby that cameout of you-- you can understand why!!!

So understand this simple fact, but stay in touch with your Dr and they will guide you through whatever needs to be dealt with.

My baby just turned 1 and I can tell you that this will be the most amazing thing to ever happen to you -- forget your body adjusting, it will take the rest of you a lot of time to adjust to the changes but the AMAZING experiences and blessings are just about to begin...be sure you enjoy them!!!

i am a nurse and its quite possible you might have a bladder infection if it burns upon urination then by all means call your doc so they can do a urinalysis ..but it is normal to feel pain after just having a baby ..your body has gone thru a trama and needs time to heal ..3 wks isnt very long...some people heal slower then others...hope this helps

what is hemmy's?
But yes it could be. use your water bottle to clean off and use witch hazel wipes as directed and drink plenty of water. but I would call your Dr. and ask anyway that is why you pay him.

Yes, call the doctor. Most of the time, when you tell them your problems, they will tell you if that is normal or not. Better safe than sorry.

Most importantly, congratulations on the new little one!
