There is nothing wrong with you and it is not weird. You're a victim of the media just like the rest of us. Abductions of children have happened thoughout history, it's just that the media has taken hold and ran with it. In recent years states and now most recently the federal government have enacted new laws that didn't exist before to protect children. Since this is a hot topic in government, local and federal, it's a hot topic in the news. You hear it over and over and over so you think the problem is getting worse. It's not, you're just getting more exposure to it.

That being said, there are things you can do to protect yourself. Carry pepper spray, use the buddy system, learn some self-defense, empower yourself. If you learn ways to protect yourself you'll feel safer. And remind yourself that there is not an epidemic of abductions recently, the media is just hovering over the topic.

There's nothing wrong with you. Everyone has fears. Example: I'm have a huge fear of sharks. I'm not even close to them either, I live in the middle of no where!!

Everyone has to be afraid of something, you just happen to be afraid of being kidnapped. As long as you haven't been chatting up with people you don't know on myspace and haven't been doing anything bad to get you kidnapped, then it's probably alright. You'll grow out of this eventually like all fears do.

weird isn't the word to be looking for, if this fear nags at you then i would suggest looking at the facts and how well you are taking care of yourself to not end up in that situation, like not taking walks in strange places alone...or being accompanied by an adult, or you know safety tips everyone tries to follow daily.....if knowing the facts don't comfort you after a while then maybe the fear is one that needs to be addressed by a professional. some people have a fear because it's false evidence appearing real, fear...it's imagined in our minds and we hear about it and we develop this picture about how ours would be and that causes greater fear....try not to think on it so much, and try to think on something else when it comes to mind, and also if you protect yourself, do things you need to do to not be kidnapped, i think you'll be okay..........

Nothing. Your only problem is that you are paying attention to the dimwit journalists, who's main source of income is creating Fear in people...

It's always a possiblity that it will happen, but the possibility of being kidnapped should NOT be a huge fear for you...

Firstly it is not weird..

And secondly, does it interfere with your daily life? If u feel this fear limits your life to a great extent then maybe it's a phobia.. and maybe warrants some advice from a dr..
- For example I have an irrational fear of people close to me dying.. and I experience it as an obsessions - to such an extent that at points in my life it affected me so greatly that it interfered with my daily functioning..

Either way it is not weird..

Good luck! :)
