I was brought up in a family without a great deal of money but with a huge amount of love. They taught me many important lessons and showed me that there is so much more to life than what money can buy. This has given me a great deal of respect for them which is way more important than anything they could ever have bought me.

i do and the older you get or if you lose one then you will really miss them.. i have always loved and respected my parents but my dad was a baptist minister and i feel like i went against him by some things i have did in my life.. and when he died i was not there and i did not get to tell him how sorry i was..i loved him very much but i never had any street smarts and so i got into trouble and i know this hurt my dad..if you do not love them for more than they can buy you something is wrong.. i know there is some not so good parents out there and some that is hard to get along with..but i think we should try and honor our father and our mother.. this may not always be easy...i have heard of some real bad parents..but i think if they try and do their part to raise their kids right and provide for them we should respect them..

I respect my parents that they didn't throw money at me all the time (which at the time I wished they had, of course).

They encouraged me to work, even though they had the means to support me. My mothers favourite saying was "When you earn your own money, you can buy whatever you want"... to some degree that wasn't the best thing to say haha, however I realised that her money was not my money to spend.

When they bought me things, it was to encourage me to do more for myself. They bought my first car, so that I could get to school, and work on the weekends. Other than that, I was very self sufficient, paid my own insurance, fuel etc.

My family isn't very close anyway, especially now that I am on the other side of the world, but I do love and respect them. I appreciate how they brought me up.

I used to. My mother's passed away, and the more I learn about the person my father is, the less I respect him. I love him for being my father, but ther's a lot that show's he's a deadbeat who'll sell out his own children.
