The Flags of Our Fathers.
It's in paperback and it's the life stories of the 5 Marines and the Navy Corpsman who raised the flag on Iwo Jima.
Fascinating book, sad and amazing and makes you feel good.
Its an easy read. I highly recommend it.

Mountains Beyond Mountains. Its a book about a doctor who devotes his life to saving the worlds poor population from infectous diseases that other doctors say are incureable. It is a true story and a must read. Very inspirational.

"The Good Earth " by Pearl S.Buck- oriental and dramatic
"The Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad- historical and dark
"The God of Small Things" by Arundathi Roy , exceptional literary work
The Bible - several accounts of history imbibed in one single book , guidance and principle , matters on how to live
Shakespearan plays .......they teach a great deal abt characterisation , how to assess ppl and how to learn from mistakes.

I just finished "Marley and Me" by John Grogan. It's been on the bestseller list for nonfiction for many weeks and I thought it was wonderful. Easy and enjoyable to read for men and women of all ages.

the poisonwood bible by barbara kingsolver. out of the 30 books i've read this summer it was definitely one of the best.
