No. If you can get in, Definately choose the Air Force! Trust me on that one! The pay is not very good. After 4 years I was making around 30-32 thousand/Year. But, depending on your job, you will make some serious bank upon your separation. I just separeted 6 months ago and am now making about 70,000/year starting. Not too bad for a 23yo. But like I said. The Air Force was barely worth it and I never even deployed. If you chose the army you are signing up to go to Iraq or Afghanistan. Trust me on that, no matter what the recruiter may tell you!

Now...being in the Army needs toughness. It's not like yeah, this is a good career option, they pay you well, let's choose it. No. It's hard. Very hard. You have to be prepared for a life of total rigidity . They are very strict out there. You need to have nerve, patience, determination, and most importantly, you must be PATRIOTIC. Only patriotic people last long in the Army and do well, because they have the true reason for joining the Army, and that is to serve the country, and not to earn good money. So dear man, take this advice seriously. Very seriously. If you don't have the qualities which I mentioned above, you'll hate your choice, when you really go there. Think about it.

Dude, I'll be honest with you. You don't sound too bright.
Guys like you are sent right out to do the most dangerous stuff - and not cool dangerous like special ops or something. You'll be driving a truck up and down bomb row or walking some stupid patrol where you'll get kidnapped and decapitated. The ******* running the show don't care whether you live or die
Join the Navy or Coast Guard if you must join something.

I'm not sure what the payment is or if you're talking about a sign-on bonus. I know a guy I work with is getting $20,000 to sign on with the national guard. Maybe that's a good alternative for you. It also depends on your level of education. If you haven't attended college that'd be a good way to pay for it. If you have you could enlist as an officer. Also, you should think about what branch of the armed services to enter depending what type of specialty you're into...example: Air Force - Planes, etc. Navy - nuclear technology, etc.

This is really only a decision you can make.
People go into the military for different reasons. What is your reasoning? Is it a good reason?
I have several siblings and in-laws that are in the military...some love it, some can't wait to get out.
My brother in law has been to Iraq 3 times...missed more of his daughter's life than he has seen...he was in Iraq when she was born...
My sister is in the army...she doesn't so much care for it, and is not sure she's going to re-enlist...well actually neither of them are.
As far as the pay...it's not that great 90% of our military families qualify for gov't assistance, like food stamps, WIC, and stuff...The live in poverty and very tight sometimes...
If you have a family, I would def. re-consider. However if you are single...it's just you...do what you wanna do..just remember there is a war (post war) going on....and you are 100% going to be putting your life on the line if you go in....

Being an Ex-Marine (2/6 & 2/8 Divs, Echo Co. 3rd Platoon) I will of course say join the Marines. I know everyone can't be a Marine, but if you have what it takes, then you will be able to join the elite 'few, and the proud'. They may not get as much attention as the other services, but the pride of being a Marine is 2nd to none. Talk to ALL recuriters and see which one will fill YOUR needs. Semper Fi....

While the military is not for everybody it can be great for some people. I was in for 15 years. Before I went in I did not like the idea of the military, btu after I was in, I had a great time. Learned a lot, traveled a lot and made great friends. The pay is good, and you don't have to be infantry, there are many jobs in the military. I was a Logistical Manager, that set me up for a lot of great jobs.

Yeah, if you have to ask this question maybe you shouldnt do it. Theyll pay you awesome, but will that matter when youre over in a warzone fearing for your life losing friends every day? Probably not. Just go to school and get a good job.

Talk to a recruiter, they will be able to help you. Do NOT let the recruiter get you into a job that you don't want to do. it is a big commitment, don't go into something that you don't think that you will enjoy doing. Good luck, and God bless you for even concidering.
