The last time I did something like that, was when I found out I was pregnant. Hormone imbalance I suppose. I'd definitely check it out. Could even be a thyroid problem.
Best of luck

Is there a reason for the weight gain? Think of it this way - if you continue this way, you'll weigh about 220 by next May!! Even if you're pregnant, a 20% weight gain in two months is too much - I gained only 19 pounds the entire 9 1/2 months!
You should probably see a doctor if the gain is completely unexplained - could be a medical problem!

It's interesting that you also asked a question about eating without gaining weight. So I'll answer both questions a little differently.
You don't mention how old you are, but some of this weight gain could be natural growth, or possibly due to a metabolism problem, like a thyroid disorder. But it could also be because of your eating and exercise habits.
As you get older, your body slowly starts losing muscle. For a while, it didn't make too much difference. But eventually your body doesn't have much muscle, and any excess weight is fat. Your metabolism is slower, too, making it easier for you to gain weight. Combine this with a change in eating habits, and your belly starts sticking out of your jeans in no time at all.
Exercise will change all of this. If you are still gaining weight, watch your diet better, start keeping a food diary. It will take time, but if you make exercise a habit, you will see improvement in weeks. And you will gain endurance and strength, too!

20 % in 2 months. The fact that you are asking this means you know it is probably not so good. Unless you know of a logical reason, a sudden emotional trauma, relationship, family issue. Otherwise it may be more serious . maybe time for a doctor. Perhaps a simple checkup to make sure its not like diabetes, or thyroid related, mind you I'm not a doctor. or maybe you just took a new job at as candy shop? I'd say it would be really unhealthy if someone dropped 20 pounds that fast for no reason, is probabvle the same. Just make sure your healthy so you can rest well. Health is the most important thing in life ,trust me I know. A simple blood test is all it will take.

If you're not preggers, and haven't changed your usual eating habits....it sounds like you may have an underactive thyroid. That slows your metabolism, and causes you to gain. I'd go get it checked ASAP! I wish I only weighed 120 pounds though! That would be the perfect weight for me. I gained alot of weight during my pregnancy, and just recently purchased some Tae Bo dvd's to work these pounds off!

That is alot of weight to gain in 2 months. Have you been eating more, and exercising less? (or not at all?) If you're young, and going through a growth spurt, then perhaps it's a combination of your increased height, and weight gain, which could be normal, especially if you're working out, it could be muscle gain. If your not increasing muscle, and not growing, just gaining pure weight, 20 pounds in 2 months is alot.

not necessarily, I went through something like that a while back. I went to the dr. they checked for tumors etc... finally they just said I needed to eat more, I wasn't taking in enough calories so for some freak reason I started gaining rapidly. I took advice and I've lose 18 of it so far. You should probably get it checked out. But if you were only 100 to begin with, it may be your body's way of saying feed me!! But seriously get it checked out.

You did not mention how old you are. It does seem like quite a bit. Are you eating a lot more.
If not you should go to a doctor. You might have a thyroid or other type of problem which can make you gain weight.

How old are you? I put on weight fast when I was a teenager. Scared my life out of me, for sure. But it all evened out really quickly. If you're still growing, your body will go through spurts, mine sure did. Hehehehe If you're not growing still, check with your doc, he'll tell you if you need to worry. If you were like 150, it would be different, but you're talking about, like, 1 5th your weight. Any chance you're carrying?
