Dogs are omnivorous, which means that they'll eat anything (just like people, pigs, bears, etc.). He really should get dog food, meat, etc., but one serving of oatmeal until you can get to the store is not going to hurt him.

oatmeal wont hurt him but rice would be a better choice..
gotta wonder why you mentioned the breed?? I have noticed that the breed "pit bull" appears in more questions than there are dogs of that breed in proportion to other breeds.. seems odd that pit bull owners always mention the breed and other dog owners seldom do.. and really it has nothing to do with the question in this case.. not meant to offend just an unusual observation

Why don't you go buy dog food?
And if you have no dog food, i suggest maybe some ground up meat, cooked with vegetables.
Oatmeal tends to swell and enlarge the stomach. Sometimes dogs don't stop eating when they are full and this can cause their tummy to hurt.
Be careful. And be a good owner. Not saying you aren't. Just be smart. ;p Love your puupy!

lol no, it won't hurt him, but it won't keep him happy for too long! Dogs like something a little more substantial. In a pinch I have fed mine canned beef stew, cooked hamburger meat (or patties), hot dogs, leftover cooked rice, a dozen scrambled eggs (no milk or cheese, tho!) tunafish... more protein than oatmeal. Don't worry, he'll be fine - the only human foods that are really bad for dogs are chocolate, anything with bones, and anything with too much fat. Of course he should eat dog chow most of the time but an ocassional human meal should do no harm.

Do you have any bread? For some reason, my Pit Bull would crave bread when she was pregnant. Dogs have instincts, maybe there was some reason why she would eat bread.
Just a suggestion that wouldn't hurt her for a short time.

Here is an idea. Go to the store, buy dog food. Bring it home. Feed him. Next time, buy the dog food before you run out of it.

No, but get him some regular food right away. Oatmeal doesn't have the protein they need.

no it wouldn't, rice would be best or a cooked or uncooked eggs, it supoose to be good for dogs fur. just no chocatle, it can kill him. next time check you dog food before you leave home so you know when to stop. or keep a small bag for travel/emgerices.

Would you deny yourself human food? Be a responsible pet owner and feed your dog proper dog food.
