My cat had kittens yesturday and I missed the birth. When I checked on her everything seemed fine and the babies were all healthy and nursing. Today mom seems lathargic and depressed and doesn't seem interested in her babies. She is out of the box every time i check on her and the babies are crying and she's not going to them. I did touch the kittens to change the bedding in the box but not for long and not when she was in the room. I'm concearned because she seems sick and does have some bloody discharge still and does not seem to want to clean herself, I did read, however that she could bleed for up to 10 days after delivery. This evening I couldn't find her for about 3 hours and when i did she was in the closet hiding alone. I had hoped that maybe she would move the kittens if she wasn't happy with where the kittens are now. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Get her to the vet. She may have an infection, retained placenta,or a kitten that was not delivered. All these can effect her milk supply, or kill her.
Spay the cat after this. Every cat does not need to have kittens for their owners enjoyment.

Call the vet now! I had a cat that did the same thing. Does she seem to be trying to squat? My cat had retained a fetus and not delivered it. She had emergency surgery and survived but unfortunately the kittens didn't. They can't survive long without their mother's milk.

Your cat needs to see an emergency vet asap. You need to bottle feed the babies kitten formula, you can find it at walmart until mama is all better. but she needs to see the vet NOW. This is a life or death situation.

she may have a dead fetus inside her. you need to get her to the vet right now. and you should call first and ask if you should bring her kittens with her or how to take care of the kittens, find a nursing mom cat to care for them or something.
