Kittens knead their mother's belly with their paws and claws when they nurse. It stimulates milk production. The licking was just an extension of the nursing action. Don't be weirded out by it- it's how a cat shows that he loves and trusts you, and sees you as a type of parental figure in his family. It's a little messed up, but hey, that's a cat for you.

Kittens "knead" their mother's stomach with their paws when they nurse. When they grow up, they'll sometimes do this to their humans, because their human is sort of like a parent in their little kitty-minds.
As for why they lick you where they do--who knows? If your cat is kneading your stomach and also licking you at the same time, maybe your cat is thinking back to the days when it nursed at it's mother's tummy. (My current cat seems to have a thing for licking the crooks of my elbows, which is where some large veins run close to the surface. I've often wondered if she likes the smell of my blood.)

Cats knead with their paws as a sign of contentment because it reminds them of the happy times when they were nursing from their mothers (sounds gay, but it's true). When my cat does that on the bedcovers, we say she's "making her bed." As for the kissing, he's being affectionate, so give some love back.
P.S. The cat laying on your stomach IS sweet, but wait till he decides to lay on your head and "make a bed" in your hair (my cat did when she was younger)!

Cats are strange lil creatures. But the punching this was him kneading or making bread or whatever you want to call it. They did this as kittens and its just a way to show they love you and as a source of comfort. You just a lovey cat. Be happy. And cats aren't meant for you to understand them. You are supposed to be like what the hell are you doing that for. Very interesting creatures.

The kneading is called milk treading. It's a trait carried on from kittenhood. The kittens push on their momma's stomach to get the milk to come out. When your cat sees you settling down they remember when their momma did the same. They are getting cozy is all. Don't worry it's normal.

Cat Body Language
Wouldn’t you love to know what your cat is thinking? You can sit and watch your cat for hours but you never know just what is going on behind those big dreamy blue (or green or amber) eyes. Your cat squints at you, fluttering his eyelids until they almost close. He switches his tail. Is he angry or just excited? We may not know, but we can make some pretty good assumptions about what cats are thinking based upon the full context of their behavioral signing and events that normally follow.
just read more about it in this site: enjoy! c",)

he is very at ease with you and was doing a type of kneading on your belly which goes back all the way to when he was a baby and nurseing with his momma the kissing sounds like he was grooming you my cat does it too it just means your cat has accepted you as his friend he is very comfotable with you and is not afraid to be affectionate with you. He loves you.

Yup.. your cat either loves you or wants something from you or a combination of both. My cat likes to paw and lick my face in the morning, but it ain't because she loves me, it's because she wants to be fed. Consider also, that their brains are smaller than ours.. so I wouldn't stress too much about it.

Cat's a super funny and quirky. To this day, I have no idea why my former feline would run circles in the bath tub.
