I'm agnostic, so consider me neutral. But if you're an athiest, why do you answer the questions that Christians have about god? "OH HE CAN'T EXIST THAT'S WHAT HE CAN'T DO!" If you just want two points, just post the word "Huzzah" or something. You're not going to convert someone to athiesm by answering the question that way. Give the Christian's the benefit of the doubt: it's there question, and they want answers given their assumption that god exists. If they're wrong, then the question is meaningless, and there's not much point to answer it anyway.
Now, to be fair, I should ask why Christians answer Athiest questions in the same way, but since Athiests don't have any dogma to really ask questions about, I'm not sure where the flip-side is. Anyone have any ideas?
In short: if people are being evangelical to you, tell them to go away, but if you answer their question saying "God doesn't exist" that's the same damned thing.
This isn't really a question, is it...

I don't do that. I will answer a question that asks for a basic opinion about religion though, why ask a question for opinions if you just want to hear what you think?
Yes there are Christians who do the same thing, someone might ask as an atheist where do your morals come from, and immediately there are Christians saying that we have none. That is just as disrespectful.
As for the guy who said what are atheists doing here. Well I am not going to change my beliefs but I am intelligent and I do like to hear about others beliefs. I am not putting anyone down for what they believe in. This a section for religious questions and answers, not for those who only believe in God to ask or answer.

I am a Christian, but I have a theory about why so many atheists answer questions about God.
Some answer because they want to convince themselves that they are making the right choice. I mean, really, if there is one big mistake in life that you can make, it would be not believing in God when he's real. If they are wrong, they are screwed, and they know it. They are taking a huge risk, and they are insecure about it. They like to think they are smarter than Christians, so they try to inform us of how misguided we are.
This is very stupid of them, considering that no one who hasn't seen God can know with all certainty that he does or does not exist. Although I believe in him, there is a lot of faith involved in my belief. Atheists are only speculating, too, so they really have no reason to be smug. Only after we die will we know for sure. Until then, we only have our beliefs.
And Christians are always hoping that atheists will come around and be saved. That's why we answer questions posted by atheists. Our motives are usually good.

It may be that an atheist reads questions of serious Christians because down deep he/she is not 100% atheist and is looking for possible ideas to consider that make the possibility of the existence of God more of a possibility for them. The wise-cracks could be a coverup for the fact that they are in this section in the first place.

Good grief. You didn't really ask a question, you just kind of ranted at us the whole time . . . give us a break, buddy.
Well, when I post questions for atheists, I get a buttload of Christians going on about "'Accept Jesus and he will be you way into heaven' Mattew 4:15" and if they get to, I wanna do it too. Besides, if I try to talk to my friends about this stuff, they steamroll me with the same damn thing I always hear and on Yahoo! Answer no one can steamroll me. I can honestly state my opinion, and this is it. It feels kinda nice, actually. I'd suggest you try it, but I think you already did . . .

It IS a question.
Look, some atheists believe, and are certain that they are right and/or are very educated in religous studies, so they can actually answer many question.
Also, many atheists believe that religion is the root of all evil. What a silly thing to believe, don't atheists fight?
They do have dogma and theology. You will regularly here about "I'd like a unicorn" or "prove there's a dragon in my garage."

HAHA, no it isn't a question but you have a valid point (except in your use of there, their and they're but I won't say anything more on it).
I try to ask, serious answers only or non-believers not needed. But it never works. Some people enjoy being snarky.

Well said :)
I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).
Cordially,
John

ya i agree.... i dunno why athiest come to the religion section anyway, since they have no religion. They seem to do nothing other than challenge, mock, or put down people's religions.
PS i can appreciate sincere questions by athiests who are serioulsy seeeking an answer about religions because they are seriously searching. But otherwise.... why?
