What does it mean when your dog has a runny clear bowel movement? He is an inside dog, and has eaten the same food for his whole life, I have seen this happen twice in the last week. Any ideas what the deal is?

While your waiting to get to the vet take extra care to keep water in him. Its very eay to get dehydrated with that type of diarreah. It could be parasites, worms, diseases, anything... get to the vet as soon as you can... watery poop is always a sign of an extreme situation and should not be taken lightly. Again, in the meantime keep him hydrated. Push on his gums and if they dont turn pick quickly then you need to rush him to an all night emergency center. The gums should be bright pink and quickly return to that color after you apply pressure. If not its an emergency. Good Luck. Also check the temp anally, it should be between 100.5 and 102.5.

It is a bowel irritation that causes mucus to form. has the dog been chewing anything inside the house, plants ,shoes, or eaten some table food. If it is a small dog there is sometimes problems with the intestines for very little reason. Did they chew any wood or anything. If it continues and you know diet isn't a factor get them to the vets. They have to go outside too pee, so maybe picked up infection or ate a plant.

Sounds like colitis. That is caused when a dog's intestinal lining gets upset & inflammed. This is due to them eating something. Whether it be food, or anything else around. We used to have one lab that would come in all the time because he kept eating the children's toys. We had to pull teddy bear stuffing out of his rectum one day. When he was neutered, he threw up her barbie hairbrush. Your vet will be able to give him something that can calm his stomach down.

I know its going to cause some money, but take him to the vet... Have them do a Parvovirus test to rule out the possibility...
You should start giving your dog Pedialite instead of water, just in case he is getting dehydrated from the diarhea...

Get him to a vet, could be just a virus or something, but also could be very serious. If it was your son, you'd take him to the doctor, wouldn't you.

He probably got into something and ate it. Check around for remnants or damaged containers.
