I have a male lhasa apso and someone i know has a female and wanted to use my male as stud. She said either she would pay me stud fee or we got pick of litter. She is selling the females for $350 and males $250, what do I charge for stud fee? My son and I was going to get a female pup from her, but decided we didn't want to and instead take the stud fee. I am afraid since it was verbal, she will not pay now. I am trying to find out what to charge so I can try to get it in writing.

If you don't want to claim the pick of the litter, the stud fee should be equal to the value of the pick of the litter, so it will depend on the pedigree of your friend's dog and your dog. Has she bred before? How much did the pups go for? Does your dog have the same or better pedigree as the previous stud? If she hasn't bred before, then you'll have to go on what price a pup bred from the lines of your dog and her dog should bring. If she's bred before, there's no reason why your friend shouldn't be able to tell you waht the previous picks of the litter went for. If she hasn't, any Lhasa Apso breeder should be able to give you a reasonable idea of what to expect.

That usually goes 1/2 the price of an 8 week old pup. and is paid at time of service.-- If you wait untill pups are sold then charge the full price.
example--The pups are 500. they pay 250. @ time of service.
Example--If you wait untill pups are born fee is 500. price of pup.

Most will charge whatever the cost of one puppy will be. How much is she going to sell the pups for?

It depends on the breed and popularity of the dogs in question. You need to find a breeder in your area that has the same breed of dog you have and ask them how much you should charge.

Charge her the price of the first puppy. So average it out at $300.

You should get the price of one of the pups, and get it at the start or you will never see the money unless it is someone you know.
