Yes I know that at least ten people are going to try to tell me that witchcraft is satanic and I'm going to hell and Jesus is the only way to heaven, but I really don't want to hear it... I've read enough answers on Yahoo! that I don't need it repeated.

I think that the key to a home blessing ritual is to rid the home of unwanted energy (purify it) before actually blessing it (making it sacred). I think lots of people interchange those terms.

What I would do is make sure all the windows and doors are open and use a sage smudge stick to purify the house. Many people make loud noises as to scare the nasties away. Some people take their ritual broom and ritually sweep the negative energy out the door (by sweeping above the floor in the air). If you haven't tried this- its really interesting how you can really feel the energy. You can even make up a little chant. One I teach to students is: As I sweep from left to right, I call upon the Witch's might, Negativity from this circle flee, As I will so mote it be." Just a fun little ditty I threw together. :)

Once the house is purified, then its time to bless it! I like blessing it with bells, a meditation bowl, a gong or chimes. I'll ring a chime in every room, making sure that the vibration reaches to each corner of the room. Singing is great, lots of fun, merriment- toasts and libations are great, too!

That's just the way I like to do things... your milage may vary. :)

im not wiccan, im gnositc. and what i have read so far. Wicca is a religion. and u are not going to hell to practice a religion of nature. i think that those people that said that. they need to get their selves informed.
if u have acess to holy water, then get some and pour it throught out the house.
light some yellow, white, violet, white candles and ask the "G'd's" of the east, west, north and south to help u bless the house. light some sandal incence and if u have 3 or 5 different incence light 'em and walk trought out the house n let the fumes clean the house.
also try to offer a ritual to ur house.
on the backyard:
dig out a hole
and pray to the element of ur house, and make offerings to the house, they have to be 7 different things: 3 seeds, 3 fruits, 3 candies, 3 breads, 3 grains, 3 vegtables, 3 pastas.... n pour a wine into the hole and pray to the element of the house to bless the house n to take u as the inhabitant... then cover the hole and work done.
and just remember to never have any sort of big fights in ur home, cause that will break good energy. when u see that things get alittle bit heavy open the windows and let light come in.... wind will help move the energy around ur home, and light will give a positive chi to the house.
hope this helps.

Any number of things can be used. For a cleansing, you might use Sea salt, sage, lavender, a favorite incense, or even a bell.

For a house blessing, a ritual that I did for over ten years of moving was to use small decorative brooms and place items on them items that I felt a close connection with. For me, that was amber, a token, bay leaves, feathers, and small crystals. After cleansing the house and the brooms I would ceremoniously hang them over the doorways leading outside. Most people never noticed my brooms. But I did. They were charged to protect my home and watch over the doorways. This is just an idea that I thought you might be able to use or adapt.

I have found that sage smudge sticks work very well.

When you burn the sage stick, start at the back of your house or apartment or in the rear most room (that is just my starting point, you can start where you like). Let the sage fill the room with it's cleansing while you visualize in your mind your home being swept clean of negative energy. I like to use a feather to spread the scent around. Anyhow, walk slowly around the room, still visualizing the negative energy leaving, unable to hide in the smallest crack or space. Continue this slow, relaxed walk through your home, your final destination is the front door. "See" with your mind the home being clean and pure. If you wish to chant while doing this, then by all means do so. Something simple is just as effective as something elaborate.

Blessed be and well met, sister!

I would also use holy water and salt in doorways and around the perimeter to keep bad energies at bay

Olive oil - annoint the doorways and windows and ask for (deity) to bless your new home - that's all you have to do.
