Society...the same people who cried wolf during the red scare and Salem witch trials, and convicted innocent people based on nothing but a whim...heck no! Just because your way of thinking doesn't go along with the crowd, doesn't mean you're mad. When people are scared of being looked upon in a negative way, they'll behave like sheep just to save their own skins. But then, some of history's most famous people were considered to be mad. Einstein and many other famous scientists have been stereotyped to be a little 'off' the beaten path. Joan of Arc was considered to be a heretic. The list goes on...

If somebody told me that, I'd ask myself if I was mad. I think everybody has some degree of eccentricity. But if you believe you are insane, then you can't possibly be. Insane people make their own reasons for things so that they seem normal to themselves. They trick themselves into believing things to make up for their inability to reason correctly, (an image of Capitol Hill comes to mind.) It's funny that not many people consider themselves to be mad. Hey, for all we know, we could all be crazy!

Here I go, guessing again. By mad, are you referring to a psychiatric issue or anger? Lots of people use the word, mad, when they mean angry.

But whatever meaning the word has, why rely on what society says? You know yourself better than anyone. Other people can form opinions of you, but you're not required to believe what anyone says. You know your own true self, so stop worrying about what society says. If you're questioning your mental status, see a shrink. If people think you're angry all the time, well, you possibly could be. So if you don't like that image, turn it around. Smile and be friendly, and no one will think you're mad in that sense of the word. I stopped worrying about what other people think of me a long time ago. The important thing is to feel good about yourself. You can do it!

Everyones "mad". If anyone says anything to me about me being "nutty" or whatever, I just say thanks (and mean it) and that I work very hard at it and I'm glad they noticed. If I were truly mad, I would think that everyone had a problem but me, so I guess my answer would be no.

Maybe. Most people with mental health conditions know exactly what they have and the treatments that follow.
