--is Catholic--

Yes I have. One should stay far far away from them. If one is looking for traditional Catholicism and wants to agitate for a return to the piety of pre Vat 2, that can be done within the Church through proper channels. The SSPX is a group that is filled with much bile. While I appreciate some of their frustrations and agree that some of their concerns should be addressed, and that there was wrong done, there is a particular spirit of rancor in that group that is not from God.

If there is one thing that "traditionalists" should know, and that is that you never work outside of the Church. If the Church springs a leak, you bail water, you don't jump overboard. The SSPX could have been a force for good in the Catholic Church and could have helped to stop the cancer of liberalism that occurred after Vat. 2. However, at seeing the cancer, they cut themselves out of the Body of Christ instead of working to cut the cancer out.

Archbishop Lefebvere was excommunicated, along with the four priests he raised to Bishop.

The organization, as a whole is not viewed as being schismatic. People who attend their mass _might_ be endangering themselves to excommunication.

The major difference between this organization, and The Holy See is the Tridentine Mass. The Holy See will not rule that Priests may not be prohibited from performing it. The Society of St Pius X insists that such a rule is required.

They do not agree with the Vatican II reforms. They are not outcast. The strength of the church is that changes can be made and that different groups can practice as they wish.
