I've always wondered the same thing because the Bible says, "In the beginning there was God...." Now, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that God had to come from someplace - so who created the creator? It's a charming myth and story but that's all it is.....it has so many holes in it that it looks like a piece of Swiss cheese.
I could believe on the other hand that there are more intelligent beings in the universe than us and that they came here and created us either on purpose or as a genetic experiment (in which case it went horribly wrong - look at George Bush!) and that when they came back to check on things that the ancient people perceived them as being "Gods."
There is even proof in the Bible to back this up: "And there were giants on the land in those days.....and they mated with the women and were cast out..." (paraphrase, ok). Who were the giants? Were they the gods? Where did the god concept come from?
And let's not forget: "And God said, let US create man in OUR image." This is plural meaning more than one, so there had to be another even if it was just Mrs. God.
In summary, people (God/gods) don't just appear out of nothingness.....they either evolved or were created.

"Man is a strange beast. He cannot create a worm yet he can make gods by the dozens." -Nietzsche
I never understand why no one knows the answer to this...
Ok, here is your answer. Do you believe in electricity? Of course you do, you are not an idiot right? Do you know the "Law of Conservation of Energy"? I know you do.....you are the smart one. But for the 3rd graders out there here it is, "Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be transfered from one form to another". So, asking "who made God" is exactly like asking, "who made energy". NO ONE DID! They cannot be created....they have been around forever. Even if you don't believe God exists you surely believe energy exists so you might as well just ask "who made energy", because you will get the same answer.
Hope that helps.

Once upon a time there were these guys sitting around having a good time, and the neighbors got upset because the guys were making to much noise and looked like they were having fun, so the neighbors formed this group called religion and made up a whole bunch of laws to make happy people feel bad, but this group didn't want anyone of them to be responsible because there might be some kind of revenge from the happy guys, so the group came up with this idea that the perpetrator would be named God, and bad things would happen if you didn't obey God. I think its patent #1

The dominant god of montheism evolved from solar worship and astrotheology. This used to be obvious until language changed. 'heaven' literally meant 'sky' when these ideas originated, and god, who was the sun, lived in the sky. His presence provided warmth and safety. His absence was feared.
The number 7 is universal among ancient religions because of the 7 eye visible 'nonfixed' celestial objects (sun, moon, mercury, venus, mars, saturn, jupiter). The number 12 also has significance because of the twelve regions of the sky (which originated in the apporximately 12 lunar cycles per year).
So no, the human concept of god is simply a concept and nothing more.

even in scientific terms you are wrong ... the universe physical that we see may not be the total reality .. in fact it may only be the tip of the iceberg so-to-speak. So yes God created the universe that we percieve as being so big we cant understand it .... its probably a phenomena emanating from another dimension and trying to understand God from our point of view would be impossible if He is indeed in that other dimension because the same laws that we have in our physical place would not even apply there ... there would be completely different rules and laws ... so this is all from a scientific point of view based on ideas and theories drawn from theories already commonplace in "science" ... why ask a question about the origin of God when the human mind cant even comprehend the scope of our own universe?

We created God to explain the unexplainable. Early humans didn't understand a lot of natural happenings and attributed it to some person in the sky. That is how God came to be. Then again Gods were created to keep people in line and to control people.
God is nothing more than a spirit that exists in each of us. Has no special powers or strengths or miracles. Some people managed to package their vision of God and sell it as religion and wrote some fantastic tales which they attributed to the word of God. Lot of sheep bought it.

This question must be answered properly. God is not a physical being. God is the belief. The belief is the creator of all things. the belief is what makes us do things. What makes us strive to be better and accomplish new feats. Therefore peoples idea of creation is false. God did not create physical beings. he simply influenced them to believe. To believe in the power of god and believe in themselves. This is what caused and continues to cause evolution. Science is the idea behind the physical creation of living things. It cannot prove my theory of God wrong. People have simply come to misunderstand the idea of creation.

Hey skunk. This question has been asked at least 100 times. There never has been a time that God didn't exist. God existed before the universe was spoken into existance.

Most people consider God to be supernatural, hence the inability to empirically prove his existence with science.
As such, he had no beginning or end, and is indivisible.
Here you are using time to attempt to disprove the existence of God. Time is a human construct to describe that which we perceive. I constituent of science. So, whether or not the universe began or will end is not pertinent to the discussion. Indeed to limit God to our perception of time is to limit God's very nature.

I do believe in evolution and the big bang theory. I think that everything was created by the magic of science. Although, i like the teachings and the way of life described in the Bible.
