you need a software DVD decoder as well as windows media player. so go to www.gocyberlink.com.tw and download power DVD available for a free trial.
if you used to be able to play DVDs but now can not then check to see if your system can be restored to a date and time when you know the DVD worked.
you may also consider running a sytem wide security scan for malware on your system.

Check the version of the player. Win XP has all the patches. Also make sure you have put the DVD in a DVD drive!

fist see if ur having a dvd reader then see if u have installed media with dvd playback if not then reinstall it with dvd playback
