ALSO: i have tried using a straightner, but because my hair is very thick, it tends to make my hair even more poofier, and it makes my hair frizzy

You need a CHI...it is a brand of straightening iron...my sister has one and it's great!!!! The only way you can get one is through your stylist, and they aren't cheap. Also use some smoothing shampoo and conditioner

My hair is the same way..only straightening it with a GOOD straightener works for my hair...I bought one for about $100 bucks at a beauty supply shop..The expensive ones are really better and they last longer..to save on damage I wash my hair at night and let it air dry then I straighten it in the morning. The only other way that I can get my hair to behave is to wash it, put in Mousse for curly hair, and then sleep on it wet. In the morning I restyle the front. For some reason this helps it not be poofy and lets it have nice waves. If I blow it out I look like a mushroom.....

My hair is really really thick too and the GOOD straightener works fantastically...

Blow dry it straight with a paddle brush. Add some balm and perhaps ease it down with a straightner. You will never get continuous straight hair unless you have it chemically straightened frequently.

well, i have the same type of hair and what i do is use a straightener, but if you don't want to use a straightener then you could always blow dry your hair straight. to help with the poofyness you could get your hair thinned out with thinning sheers, it helps a ton.

One of the things you can do to get your hair straight is you can blow dry it & then iron it. Or you can get a relaxer like me.
