"By age 26, 10.7% of men and 24.5% of women reported being attracted to their own sex at some time.

This dropped to 5.6% of men and 16.4% of women who reported some current same-sex attraction.

Current attraction predominantly to their own sex or equally to both sexes (major attraction) was reported by 1.6% of men and 2.1% of women. Occasional same-sex attraction, but not major attraction, was more common among the most educated.

Between age 21 and 26, slightly more men moved away from an exclusive heterosexual attraction (1.9% of all men) than moved towards it (1.0%), while for women, many more moved away (9.5%) than towards (1.3%) exclusive heterosexual attraction.

I am not an authority to answer this in scientific manner and my response may not even be an educated guess. However, I have a feeling that somehow it could be determined at birth but most likely same sex attraction could have something to do with environmental exposure such as how he was treated at home, number and kind of siblings he had actively grew up with and some who may have find it easier to express his attention to someone who is not opposite his gender.
I am strong believer of reincarnation and karma and I find it quite possible that two souls who used to be lovers in their early lives could have made a promise to each other that they will love each other even in the after life and will find each other to be together again in the next life. As part of our evolving soul to perfection, we have to undergo a cycle of life where we should experience all types of life such being poor, rich. girl, boy, physically good, handicap etc...whatever and wherever. All is just a matter of how one live his life. My hunch however, tells me that those promises that you keep, may still work because it is only your body that dies and your soul does not. What if it happens that you both came into the world at the same time having the same sex. By nature it always need a man and a woman to continue the cycle of life but by spirit that does not die your committment to each other may be so strong that you no longer will see reality and be overwhelmed by the feeling you can hardly explain.

It is a preconceived fact/notion, and is truly beleived by majority of most populations
*** that if one has a penis, that it must be male ..if one has a vagina, it must be female.
it does not necessarily mean because you look like a boy you can not dismiss that you feel like a girl, and visa versa...some people are different. 40 years and beyond....the decision, was totally up to the medical world on your gender...this issue has been going forever...its history...Also, there are very few countries that do choose to allow the individual make their own choice m/f or indiferent... when they understand more about themselves.
If n.america and other countries allowed for this, dont you think there would be happier folk in this world??

So my long drawn out conclusion would be No!

sexual orientation is not determined at birth!
.....sexual orientation is another issue, that will continue current, ongoing forever. History only is remembered by those who recall it.
Sexual orientation/like gender has beent enforced and encouraged by their parents, elders and other teachings.
I beleive that these "rules" make all humanity a follower of dictators.
If it feels good do it!Live..Love...Laugh!!!..rules are made to be broken.

wouldnt it be great to have both parts and able to use them all the time.....think about it!!!!!

sorry...

Maybe and Maybe not.

What's for certain is that all human beings deserve respect for we are all equal. Many may be oriented at birth, and perhaps others manifest the attraction later. It only seems resonable that things aren't always black and white in theis world, but shades of gray.

I figure it won't be long till the answer nuttos come out to say homesexuals going to hell or whatever. These people are the judges of nothing.

Yes. Usually baby is a male or a female. Some are born Eunuch (for the gospels sake). Sometimes there are other abnormalities though rare.

People sin against God's design & there are consequences. Read Exodus 20 (iniquities go on to the 3rd & 4th generations that hate God). Read Romans 1.

Well this is sort of hinting at the old nature vs. nurture debate which scientists and scholars have been bantering about for years. Sex or gender is determined in the womb. I believe for many people sexual orientation/preference is also genetically/biologically predetermined; but for many others, thier sexual preference is learned behavior because of the environment they grow up in, the experiences others introduce them to, experimentation etc. Sexuality is very fluid and it's not a black or white thing. It can be very grey.

This is a lie that has been going around for years. No one is born gay there is not gay gene. They simply throughout time and situtations are attracted to the same sex. Sex is a desire Not a need no one NEEDS sex. They just desire it. They believe they are born gay so they say it. Belief is a strong motivator. Even in the bible it states if you believe it and doubt it not it will happen.

lady, you got better than one question and that i think a hidden 0.33. the answer to the first question is not any. Sexual orientation isn't verify with suggestions from start. we are born impartial. Now to as for the second one question, the answer is not any. i imagine it takes better then even if the moms and dads develop into overprotective or no longer to make a baby gay.

I think a lot of it is, but when you are in those "learning ages", you question who and what you are.

Experimentation is key.

My two (males) friends wanted to see what being gay was all about, so they tried with each other.

They realized they were hopelessly heterosexual and moved on.

I have never harbored any homosexual fantasies at any time.

It's individualistic.

My favorite metaphor is that homosexuality is like left-handedness. it is determined in utero but discovered only when you start needing it. For handedness, it shows when you start needing to use a dominant hand. For sexual orientation, it shows when you start developing sexual feelings.

It's not an either/or thing. Human sexuality is incredibly complicated, and your gross oversimplifications show that you don't even have the faintest gleaming of an appreciation for this fact.
