I asked a question about this verse
Qur’an 5:51 “Believers, take not Jews and Christians for your friends.”.

and a Muslim posted that friends in that sentence is, " "awleyaa" which means leaders over you", does this mean that Muslims should not have non Muslim leaders? If so, does this mean that non Muslim minorities in Islamic countries cannot be elected to public office? Also, what does it mean for Muslims in non-Islamic countries? Does this verse mean that they should not follow the non Muslim government or try to establish an Islamic state?

This statement about not making friends with Christians shows how paranoid Islam is that a Mussie will easily be converted to Jesus Christ.

All it takes is repentance from sin and receiving the grace and forgiveness of Christ based on his death on the cross.
EVEN A MUSLIM CAN BE SAVED FROM SIN BY PUTTING HIS FAITH IN WHAT JESUS DID ON THE CROSS>. However, he will no longer be a Muslim, but a Christian. And he will receive eternal life as promised by Jesus Christ.

Jesus aid, " NO Man can come to the Father except through me".

crazy s said it right the first time.....in His words:

Oh thank goodness you asked this question.

I want to tell you about the hypocricy of muslims. I just cannot get it anymore.

I was just watching a tv program half an hour ago where the two hosts were saying there is nothing like this in the koran.

They said every muslim should go out and get a non muslim as a friend and invite them home and talk to them about islam and muslims and how muslims are peace loving and caring about the world.

They even mentioned how their prophet was a human rights person, gave an example and said we muslims fight for human rights.

Oh this is so hypocritical. I dont even know what to make of muslims anymore. Do you see what they are like? They will never tell you the truth.

They lie about everything.

They cheat you

They will kill you without a second thought

They will destroy your home to build their own

They will abduct or rape your women and make excuses of every kind that it is not true.

There is no rape in islam as mentioned but what should be done when they rape a woman who is not muslim.

These people are so criminal in their ways and they have gotten away with it.

I am shocked that no one has fought back in 1400 years. It must be fear that keeps us away yet they are perpetrators coming to destroy our homes and our lives.

Thank you for the question.

This is because the influence. Muslims have to be good with others. That's just the law of Islam. Since I read about all religions and I am open to all concepts, I be live that Muslims are the politest and the kindest of the people. I have traveled to many places and I have not seem people as kind to me as the Arabs. They are mostly Muslims. The Quran says not to make Friends with the Christians and Jews that because they had influenced the Muslims in their beliefs. Like I read in many other posts, It is okay to have a Non-Muslim as a Friend, but not as a companion because of influence of beliefs.

Thank you for this question. If what you are saying is accurate, then Muslims are not permitted to participate in a democratic government such as the one in the United States where we unalienable rights and the right to freedom of religious thought. Does the Koran have a built in bigotry that is clearly explicated?
That is amazing and it sheds a whole new light on the religion for me. I will read the responses you get to this one.

The Qur'an is much like the Holy Bible when it comes to the fact that it can be misinterprated, it has been altered many times, and most people do not follow ALL of the things it says because it was written so long ago that some of the things cannot still be followed today.

Muslims can be friends with non Muslims as long as they keep their own faith and commitment to Islam pure and strong.

People as everyone knows are influenced by their friends...

I'm a muslim, and I believe what the Quran says, but I don't care about the part U just wrote about. It's possible for muslims to have friends, who are non-muslims.

Why does it matter, we are all brothers anyway.

Why would you expect Muslims to understand and obey what their holy books say.

None of the Christians I know do.

If they did the streets would be full of Christians protesting the 30,000+ civilians we've killed in Iraq. Or does "thou shalt not kill" have a bunch of exceptions I'm not familiar with?

I am Catholic, however, the a commentary descibes that its meaning is:

The Jews and the Christians had much in common, and therefore readily formed an alliance against Islam. so anyone who makes them his friends must have some points of identity with them. A believer, in order to keep himself safe from the influence of falsehood, must avoid the company of disbelievers. The doctrines of tawalla (staying attached with the Ahl ul Bayt) and tabarra (avoiding the enemies of Allah, the Holy Prophet and his Ahl ul Bayt) are the articles of the faith of them followers of Muhammad and ali Muhammad.

The Holy Prophet said:

Do not adopt the style and mannerism of my enemies, lest you may be considered as one of them. He who appears like a certain type shall be identified as of that type.

So, that sounds pretty bad, but take it in context:

These verses should be studied in the light of verses 42 to 48 of this surah. The Jews used to come to the Holy Prophet as contending parties but always flouted his authority after seeking his judgement if it was against their worldly interests; and inspite of their high-sounding talk of the scripture-learning, stooped low to be judged by the laws and customs of paganism.

Aqa Mahdi Puya says:.

Verse 50 was quoted by Bibi Fatimah Zahra in her address to the assembly of her father's companions when the first caliph, depriving her of the inheritance she had received from her father (the Holy Prophet), wrongfully confiscated her lands in Fadak. Please refer to her biography published by our Trust to know the issue of Fadak; and study the commentary of al Baqarah: 9 which makes clear the fate of those who harassed annoyed and oppressed her.

It seems more like a statement of skepticism toward other people's religions and customs. I would say, that you are obviously allowed to take on customs which would be allowed by the Koran, but be skeptical first, lest you break the laws contained therein.

Now permit me inform you approximately all of the rights Muslims have over every person. The proper to kill them for extraordinary motives. The proper to cause them to obey what they suppose must be obeyed. The proper to cause them to censor themselves. Generally talking, whilst a minority they have got each rights to do and make others do some thing they please.
