Best is to know the owner of the animal. They will tell what does that cat likes.
Better still to get a kitten, then you can mold it the way you want.
Kindness is best for animals, they are always grateful.
Cats do not like water very much, leave at night and come back mornings.leave some food ready and make a cat hatch to give them freedom to go and come as they wish.
Once cat is mature ( a few months old ) they will start to zoom and roam looking for a partner to mate, this is very natural and you can not stop.
Cats are very faithful. They prefer to sleep in the same spot often at you feet on bed or on your lap but make up a bed for it to learn its place.

You need common sense when owning a dog/cat.
Getting a cat is hard work for some people.
You need to scoop out the poop everyday, make sure it has fresh water and food, give it lots of attention so it won't feel lonely, clean up after them if they track litter all over the house, vet bills(some can get pretty expensive).
If you don't have the time, or energy, or maturity --- I reccommend not getting a cat. Because they are like little babies.
Shelters, and pet stores carry cats.

there is some great advice given by people here. remember a cat is a living creature. it needs love and respect. treat them correctly from young and a cat will grow up to be a loving friend. Contact the Cats Protection League for all aspects of care.

You can get a cat from a newspaper ad or a shelter, actually from anywhere and for free... you do need to know that they need veterinary care and tons of love and attention. They need to be taught the rules of the house since they are small and how to use the litter pan. Also remember to neuter your cat.

try the cats protection league. Cats are really easy to look after but pet food companies have their own website with plenty of useful information on how to keep pets. Good luck

Maybe you should read up on how to look after cats before deciding to get one. If you are getting a cat then go to a rehoming shelter. There are too many unwanted pets out there.

Try the Cat's Protection League. They always have cats that need re-homing.
The cats are normally spayed or neutered.

Once fully grown they take care of themselves. They will appear once or twice a day for food though and for a place on the sofa/bed/chair and by the fire. While small though they will need a litter tray and to be kept in until after they are vaccinated.

theres loads of animal rescue centres around. look in your local yellow pages or on the internet.
you need to feed and water it regularly
keep up to date with his jabs
de flea in regularly - the amount of people that dont comb their cats and de flea them is amazing. cats loved being combed gently too.
put a collar on them with a disc with your address on.
i had a ginger tom once (have a different one now) and they are notorious for running off if you dont get them "done" so i would make sure thats done too.
they just basically need stoking and cuddles.
