I'm just curious since I have a friend who despises homosexuality but is involved with someone who is married. Seems a little at odds with their religious beliefs one way or the other.

The ones that hide behind religion are usually the biggest hypocrites.

Personally, while I know that God doesn't have a rating system for sin, I think that adultery is worse because the person involved is breaking a holy covenant they have made with their spouse in God's presence and doing harm to the person who was supposed to be their life long partner.

Just to clarify, when people say that homosexuals are not hurting anyone they are mistaken. Both people are harming themselves by sinning against God and by missing out on his perfect will for their lives.

In my opinion adultery is worse.

Adultery is directly against one of the Ten Commandments and breaks a solemn promise made before God to the most important person in you life.

The Catholic Church believes there is nothing sinful about being homosexual. But homosexuals like all unmarried people are called to celibacy.

The Church specifically says that homosexual people "must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided."

With love in Christ.

Adultery, but so many do it these days, so whose to say what a sin is? Cheating on your signifcant other is never right. As to the homosexuality thing I really don't know what to say about that, because gay people are some of the nicest people i ever met, and I think they were born that way.

If you believe in the 10 commandments, adultery. Homosexuality was never defined as a sin, no matter what the hypocrite bible thumpers say.

If you do not believe in the bible, then the answer is neither.

Personally, I don't think either are a sin... but thats just me.

Homosexuality is not sin. Homosexual ACTS are sinful.

Adultery is an act which is not only despised by God, but also damages the lives of innocent others. As such, it is infinitely more repugnant to God than homosexuality.

Stupidity is the worst sin in the world. Remind your friend that hypocrisy is one of the first things criticized in Paul's letters to the Church. Homosexuality isn't in the ten commandments, but guess what is.

There are no degrees of sin in God's eyes.
In Corinthians, Gossiping is listed alongside Murdering as the sins that keep the guilty from inheriting God's Kingdom.
Your friend is playing with fire.

I'm not Christian, but I would believe that the worse sin is to commit adultery. It's cheating on someone. I'm not homo, but denouncing someone on something that can't be helped, is a sin.

Oh, people are so amusing, aren't they? Such fun we have with justifying our actions.

Well, from where I sit, adultery is, in fact, under one's direct control, but homosexuality is not; therefore, adultery is a sin.

Hell missing the Sabbath is enough to get you to hell.
Smoking, working on the Sabbath.
Eat a shrimp, or lobster.

If you did the above in secret so no one would ever know, and a murder got away and has not been found. Which one is more likely to ask for forgiveness?
