Get to a vet or pet hospital ASAP, and take the rat poison with you

It depends on the type of rat bait, first generation rat baits take up to 4 days to have an effect while second generation baits can take effect within 1-2 days.
You need to take your dog to the vet, they will make your dog voming and do an activated clotting time (ACT) to see if your dog has a coagulopathy caused by the bait. Depending on your dogs clotting profile it will either be put on medication and sent home or hospitalized and given blood to counteract the process.
It is important that you get your dog to a vet ASAP, especially as you don't know whether or when the bait was ingested.

Not to be mean, But why are you asking here instead of calling a animal hospital or even a some human hospitals would take care of an emergency like this. Or even poisin control. Get off the computer and call somebody NOW!!!

After a dog ingests rat poison, if he throws up very, very soon, it may possibly survive. The treatment usually given by vets is Vitamin K, which can counteract the poison.

But if the dog ate rat poison, and didn't throw up or get care by a vet immediately, I don't know anything that can help.

I'm so sorry.

Get that dog to the emergency vet at once! He needs to have tested to make sure if he ate some or not, and he needs to be watched by a Vet. There has to be an Emergency Animal Hospital in your area. Please, take your dog to the Vet. Call the poison control and get the anmal help. God bless you and your animal.

What size dog and how much did he get? How long ago? Did he vomit at all?
I need to know if you want more information.
If he is showing any signs of sickness take the package of poison with you to the vet. There is information on the package that the doctor needs to treat the dog.
Try to relax. Getting upset will only make things worse.

My dog did this when he was a puppy.
We saw bits of the rat poison on his nose.
I don't know how long ago your dog ate the poison but if you REALLY LOVED him like you claim, you would get to an animal hospital ASAP.
It sounds like you are just sitting and watching the poor animal die. How cruel.

Go to the vet NOW. On the way feed him tablespoons of Hydrogen Peroxide (the kind you use for cuts) and have towels with you. Give one at a time until he throws up. You need to induce vomiting and get to the emergency vet. They will pump his stomach with charcoal to make him throw up and to absorb what it can. I hate to say depending on how long ago this was and how much he ate he may not make it...

I hate to say it but depending on how much rat poison he ate will depend on whether he will die or not. If you have taken him to the vet and they are treating him then he stands a better chance.
I am sorry for this difficult time in your life and I hope for the best in this situation.
