I love old postings that hold true while the trolls have moved own :) I just made an individual cake in the microwave and it turned out fine. I used an individual pyrex storage dish (like a small rectangle) so it took a little tweaking to get the right time - the first one really puffed up, and I got tricked thinking it wasn't ready. Once I took it out and cut it I saw it had cooked from the inside, so it was almost burnt inside while the outside was still pale. Did another one with less mixture, cooked it for 2.5 minutes, and it turned out spongy and good. I used a regular Betty Crocker white cake mix with the box instructions for water egg oil. I added lemon extract (don't use the artificial one as it won't taste very good) and it was perfect. The only thing I might do different is to use the egg white instructions instead of the regular - that has nothing to do with microwave but just personally I think 3 eggs in a white cake overpower the mix. Even if you have an oven, I think this is a good thing to try when the temperature is hot and an oven would just make it worse. It was also easy to make a small individual treat without a lot of time.

Microwave Cake Mix

I don't understand why people have to be so rude. I don't see anything wrong with the question. I, too, was very curious. Sometimes I have other things baking in my oven, or because of my work hours, I just don't have a lot of time. At any rate, keep your chin up. I'm happy you asked the question, and I plan on trying the microwave to bake a cake from a box mix. We do not owe anyone an explanation as to why we would like to try it. Take care & keep trying new things. I know I will.

Umm, so....

they're all wrong, sweety. and don't get upset because they're all about 12 years old anyways!

YOU CAN COOK A BOX MIX IN THE MICROWAVE!

Here's the recipe, hope it helps!

MICROWAVE CAKE
1 box reg. cake mix (any flavor)
3 eggs
1/3 c. oil
1 c. water
Mix all ingredients together and pour batter into a microwaveable bundt pan or cake dish and microwave on medium high for 10 minutes, turning about every 3 or 4 minutes. If it's not done, keep microwaving it for intervals of 3 or 4 minutes. Cake is done when it pulls away from the sides of the dish and it looses its "wet" look and/or when a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.
After the cake is turned onto a cake plate, you can frost it with store bought frosting. Peel off the label and top of the container and microwave on high for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Stir well and pour over hot cake. Remember, a white or yellow cake will not brown in a microwave. If you will not be frosting the cake, you may want to use a chocolate mix. Any cake mix though will come out very moist and delicious.

YES YOU CAN!!! I DID WHEN MY OVEN WAS BROKEN DOWN AND IN THE REPAIR SHOP. YOU JUST HAVE TO WATCH IT CLOSELY AND A MICRO W THAT HAS THE TURN TABLE WORKS BEST BUT WITHOUT IS FINE, TOO. IT DOESN'T TAKE LONG SO KEEP AN EYE ON IT. I USED A REGULAR CAKE MIX. I DIDN'T USE A SPECIAL RECIPE, JUST THE ONE ON THE BOX AND I USED A GLASS BAKING BOWL. I ALSO HAVE A MICROWAVE DISH FOR BAKING THAT WORKED WELL, TOO. IT'S NOT LIKE USING THE OVEN BUT IT'S FINE.

HEY, DON'T WORRY ABOUT ALL THE RETARD-JERK-OFFS THAT RESPONDED, I'M SURE THEY HAVE NEVER BOILED WATER MUCH LESS MADE A CAKE. THE ONLY REASON THEY'RE HERE IS TO SHOW EVERYONE HOW STUPID THEY ACTUALLY ARE, AND DID A FINE JOB! AND IF YOU SEE THEIR ANSWERS TO OTHER STUFF YOU'LL SEE A NICE PATTERN. GOOD LUCK WITH THE CAKE, IT WILL BE GREAT!!

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular "fad" diets out there. Go here https://biturl.im/aU4ui

The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it's just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it's a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true

I just googled this exact same question & it brought me to here. I tried it too & voila...I have a nice round cake!! FYI: I do own an oven, but I had baked half of the mix into cupcakes & ran out of the cupcake papers, so I thought it would be cute to make a small round cake for my 3 year old's party this evening & it worked! I am going to frost it & add smarties all around it. YAY! Thanks ladies!

Yes you most certainly can, I know I have done it. It takes a little patiance but you can do it. Cook on high 15 minutes at a time, if you do not have rotating tray, then turn. cook until you put tooth pick or knife in and it comes out clean.
