While in the early stages of a new relationship, the person you are with out of the blue says I love you, how do you respond to them if you are not ready to say that back?

If u are not ready 2 say it then by all means dont.
If he meant what he said, he wont push the issue and still b there when or if you are ready 2 say,...I love you.
If u think u do love him then dont wait until he thinks u dont care and moves on. Good luck.

You don't!! Don't respond at all!!
When the person asks you if you love them back then you have to respond and only you have that answer....
Just be honest tell that person how you feel about them at that time!!

Tell them the truth. say "I'm not ready to put those three words in this relationship yet, but I'm getting there AND I care for you a lot." Hope that helps.

if you don't love them, please what ever you do, don't say you love them back. ive had that happen and i just smiled and changed the subject, the guy ended up being one i had to let go because some people just move too fast. when you first meet someone, you take your time and get to know someone before falling too fast. if someone says it, and you want to respond, just say that's sweet, but i would have to get know you better before i can say the same.

Honestly, if you aren't ready, tell them. And if they insist on you saying it back then you don't need them! You have to be totally ready to say that you love someone!! Hope every thing works out!!:)

the same thing happened to me recently and i got very confused too. you could either talk to them about it and tell them you're not ready. he has to learn not to rush things. or you could just try to change the subject discretely.
