I have a friend that loves vodka. Lately he has had a lot of blood in his stool, and this has had both of us quite concerned. Another friend told me that she thinks it is the vodka because she knew a couple of people that had the same problem and as soon as they stopped drinking vodka and started drinking brown whiskey-- or no booze at all-- the problem went away. Anyone ever heard of this or know of any medical evidence that proves of disproves it?
Please give sources if you know of any.

Helpful hint: Anything you "hear from a friend" that has to do with anything medical is probably a load of crap.

He has blood in his stool probably because he has an ulcer or worse. He should go to a doctor and stop drinking.

No it doesn't. It sounds like your friend could have either a bleeding ulcer or colitis. Neither of these are pleasant. Take him to a doctor.
