Yes. Those who have not placed their faith and trust in Jesus can be demon possessed and they can be possessed by more than one demon (thus multiple personalities).
And Christians can be demon oppressed by demons when they are not walking rightly with God.

Congratulations! This is an unusually interesting question.
I do not think that demon possession and multiple personality disorder are the same thing. One major difference is that demon possession frequently involves extreme behavior which is no like the person normally is. There are some interesting accounts in the Gospels, and they are sure nothing like multiple personality disorder.
As I have learned it, multiple personality disorder is the result of some severe trauma, usually when the victim is relatively young. As a result of the trauma, the actual personality becomes polarized into several (or even many) personalities. But all of these personalities are really aspects of the original, "unified" personality. The strange part is that these different personalities are often not aware that there are others and may not be aware of what the others are doing. That would be scary for anyone.

They are two very different phenomena. It is dangerous to confuse them.

Multiple personalities is a mental disorder when the mind segments the psyche into different "personalities." Usually, what triggers this is some sort of trauma. The mind is a resilient organ that is designed to help the body survive. When a person's mind is overwhelmed and can't handle something, it uses a different persona--with different personality traits--to deal with the problem. This is a simplistic explanation, of course. Good psychotherapy and medication can cure this problem.

"Having demons" as you say is what some religionists call "possession." Believe it or not, there is such a thing. This occurs when a disembodied spirit attempts to enter a physical body. Usually, it is a negative spirit who wants the use of the body. It is not a good thing.

Most of you will think this is a bunch of hooey, but there are documented, videotaped cases of such events. The "cure" is sending the spirit out of the inhabited person. There are different methods.

Either way, please do NOT confuse the two phenomena. It could be harmful.

I can't positively answer this question with a yes or no. I absolutely believe that people can be demon possessed. God through the Holy Ghost gives you power to cast out demons. This is not something I talk about lightly. It is through much fasting and prayer that a demon can be cast out. I also believe that a person can have a mental illness that causes personality disorders that has nothing to do with demons. So I guess my answer would be that it would depend wholely on the individual as to what the problem was. Either way that person needs prayer. God Bless You.

You are the ultimate power in your life. There is no reason to fear demons, because they can not hurt you unless you give them permission, and they have no power except that which you give them through your fear. If you do not fear them, they are powerless. There are creatures which would be termed as malevolent spiritual beings, aka demons, but there is no such thing as evil. That which people call evil is only pain in the absence of understanding. Understanding and healing begin with compassion and love. And the understanding and practice of unlimited love and compassion is the key to enlightenment, peace, and happiness. Some people think that this is God, some people think it is internal a part of yourself or your soul. I think it is the only way to understand the essence of who God or the divine essence truly is. I am not a Christian, but I am ordained by God. If you take the time to really think it through, you will begin to understand why Jesus said the most important commandment was to love thy brother. I do not have a fancy religion to try and convert anyone to. Think for yourself, and find your own truth. But I can tell you that the is no way to describe the peace and happiness it can bring you when you understand the divine plan, and that everything that happens in this world is ultimately motivated by the love and compassion of the divine essence. I recommend everyone to read: "How to Practice: The Way to a Meaningful Life," by the Dalai Lama.

Many people like to downplay the spirtual warfare aspect of Christianity, unfortuneately, this just leads to people being unprepared when they encounter it. Demons are fallen angels who followed Lucifer when he rebelled against God. They, unfortuneately can hold a grudge. Usually demons hold very little power of their own. They can appear as anything they want and try to reason with you, and that is pretty much it. Unfortuneately, when you listen to demons, or by your own sinful nature, allow a demon to posess you, they can wreak havoc with your body and mind. This can be manifested in almost any way, including multiple personalities. God has given all those who believe in him the authority to cast out demons, which is as simple as ordering them out in Jesus' name. Just because a person has multiple personalities, does not mean that they are possessed, so you should use discretion and discernment or else you may end up attempting to exercise a sick man rather than a demon possessed one.

Not at all. Multiple personalities is a psychological disorder, which by the way I do not buy at all, and having demons is more religious. I'm not to familiar with possessions, but that's usually what that would relate to.

Possibly!

It could also be predestination from God.

I knew someone with that. Literally! Just like Sybbil or Eve. It was strange! That person had voices. Demons? Maybe, I don't know!

The demon of themselves? Maybe! Free will gone bad! Man is INCLINED to following the "devil." Thus if we have no self control, the voices we hear are the voices that tell us to get gratification. Go eat the last donut. Go get the girl who is weakhearted and take her to bed, coax her, you can do, she's weak. Go for it!

Take the money and run!

We all hear those voices. Now, if you have no self control, those voice predominate!

Good is the more passive voice. The don't. The No. The uh-uh. That's the more passive voice. The stonger voice is GO FOR IT, GET IT, TAKE IT, HAVE FUN WITH IT!

Multiple Personality Disorder has been somewhat discredited. What used to be diagnosed as MPD is now usually diagnosed as Dissociative Identity Disorder.

Also, demons aren't real.

So, demons and MPD have at least one thing in common.

Depends on what you're implying in the association.

If you're suggesting that people who experience psychotic episodes are, in reality, possessed by demons ... then I'd say no.

If you're saying those whom people have claimed to be possessed by demons were experiencing psychotic episodes ... then I'd say yes.

A book was published recently by a distinguished man in the field of psychology, though I can't recall his name or the book's name, where he explored the potential of some psychotic episodes being demonic possessions ... based on what a friend told me of the contents, she had read the book, I do not agree with his conclusions ... but I did appreciate his methodology.
