depends what kind of food you feed - with the lower quality foods you have to feed more to get the same nutrition in a superior food which you would feed less (and then also have less poops)

dogs do better if feed twice a day

the lowest quality foods are those sold in grocery or wal mart

pet stores sell some lower quality some medium and som premium quality - you need to read the lable

avoid by-products which are beaks feet feathers snouts - cheap filler
avoid corn - another cheap filler and should NEVER be ingredient #1
avoid BHT, BHA, cheap dangerous chemical preservatives
avoid soy and wheat - cheap fillers which are common allergy causers

select a food with CHicken Meal, Lamb Meal or Turkey Meal as first ingredient - so you get the protien source first so your dog will need to eat less
most foods have a feeding guide on the bag

Let her eat as much as she want. Feed her twice a day. Morning and then again in the evening.

What ever she leaves in her dish, put back in the bag.

On choosing a good quality nutritional dog food for her, the ingredients should list chicken (only) first, then chicken meal or by products and on down the line. Whatever the meat is, lamb or beef, it should be listed first, comma, then the meal by products, corn meal or whatever.

If it list the meal by products first, that is not considered a good quality dog food.

Nah- just feed her a few times a day. What she doesnt eat, put it away til next time. She'll get enough. She isnt too thin, I'm sure. Check with the vet to make sure she is healthy and then just feed her as much as she wants.

Think about it- if your friend thought you didnt eat enough and kept putting food in front of you trying to make you eat it, even though you werent hungry- wouldnt you be ticked? I would. Leave that puppy alone! ;)

You should probably increase her food by about half a cup or so. Just keep an eye on her weight. You should be able to feel her ribs slightly, but they should not be protruding.

as a puppy they can almost eat 3 times a day, weight watching ofcourse when they become adults down to 1 time a day with maybe a snack later in the day weight watching , don"t overdoo it doggie weight is as important as people weight, most overfeed their doggies and instant instant blippie, no energy, lounger, couch potato
