Is Windows 2000 Professional a stable OS? Why is whenever I downloaded the OS into my system, the system will always start running initially, but later it will shut down and restart.

I have tried downloading it for 3 times, but it still give the same results. Start ok and halfway shut down.

It might not be the OS, it could be your computer overheating causing it to shut down, clean the dust out with some compressed air and a small brush. Good luck!

Uh... Windows 2000 isn't a downloadable OS.

It's stable, but it's also obsolete. Windows is no longer provising updates for it -- only security updates, and those are due to end pretty soon as well. you're better off with XP, or if you can wit until next year, hold out for Vista.

im still using win 2k pro and its stable now - i used to have problems which turned out to be a faulty memory chip so i think your problems could be hardware based
