We want to do some of the traditional things, but also want our wedding to be "ours" and have some things that aren't as common (something else instead of a unity candle, etc.).

Any ideas???

THANKS!

I totally say doing your own vows can be very romantic and very personal. Maybe you could even get a more unique style of dress as well. Instead of traditional white try a soft lavendar or something. And if you were thinking about having it outside, try to find one of those lawn tents and as you are going down the aisle you can have it so you are walking on a stone path and when you get closer to the tent can have two of your brides maids hold the tent flaps open for you, revealing your groom to the audience of guest and the bride's maids can tie back the flaps so everyone gets an unobscurred view of you and your groom. And you can even have soft lavendar flowers drapped over the tent and lavendar candles on the inside. Give it all a soft theme that matches your dress. Hope that helps.

You can have a unity sand vase where the grooms colors and brides colors are different yet when poured in a vase the design will be unique and breath taking and once the vase is sealed you can enjoy it for years to come.

Write your own vows, choose a theme wedding, while tradition is nice your individualty can be expressed in so many different ways.

My roommate had a "built bouquet". She asked some of her good friends who weren't bridesmaids to pick out a flower that reminded them of her, then we each had an aisle seat and handed her the flower as she walked down the aisle. Daisies were in season at the time, and she got a bunch in different colors along with other flowers. It was such a fun bouquet!

I am thinking that maybe you could do something smaller. Read your own vows, write your own!!!
Have it ouside, in front of few select people and have them participate- i have heard of weddings that include the guests who say I do (in regards to do they want to see the marraige progress into something magnificant). That is a wonderful idea! I say take a look at the following link- it helped me!
