Cutting is something that you have to make sure you are strong enough to quit it can be worse than a drug but it sounds like you all ready know that I stopped by snapping a rubber band on my wrist instead of cutting you get the pain but not the mark then from there you can try other things to get your pain out but for the most part when someone switches to a rubber band they usually stop that by them self. Other than that the only way I know you can quit is by doing it for someone that you love a boyfriend family member realize how much you are hurting them.
Good luck I know it's going to be hard.

Whoever said cutting is just for attention and you can just decide to stop is full of s*** and you should just ignore her. Of course, you DO need to decide to stop cutting, but you've probably already done that, or you wouldn't be asking about it.
Stopping cutting takes will power. It helps if you have a reason not to cut, especially if there's someone who doesn't know you cut, and who you don't want to know, and there's a reason they'd find out about it. I don't think that was very clear, so I'll try an example... no one I know (except online) knows I cut, and I don't want anyone to know, especially my parents, so the fact that I'm going to be staying on a beach in Mexico with my family for two weeks is really good motivation not to cut, since I kind of have to be able to wear a bathing suit at that point.
Another thing that I've found helps is to put a rubber band or hair tie around your wrist, and snap it whenever you want to cut. The only thing, though, is that I've found that if I don't snap it hard enough, it makes me want to cut more, rather than less, because I wanted it to hurt more. But if I snap it hard enough, the jolt of pain from the rubber band is generally enough to break whatever thought process was making me want to cut in the first place, and I can avoid doing it. Doesn't work 100%, but it definitely helps.
That's about all I've got. The not-fully-healed cuts on my arm say it's not perfect, but the fact that none of them are still bleeding says it's an improvement, so you might want to give the rubber band thing a try if you haven't already.

Not to sound flip, but you could decide not cut yourself anymore. Cutting is attention getting behavior. There are more positive ways to get attention. They aren't as cool though. The best thing you can do to feel better about yourself is to help someone else. Volunteer at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter, volunteer to vacuum the floor at a local church. Tutor elementary kids.
But, if you just want to make the feelings go away - drink heavily. The only problem with that is the same one you have with cutting - when you're done, the feelings are still there. So, do something different to get out of yourself - be of service to others.

Please seek help from a professional to get treatment.
Everytime you feel like cutting, go outside and find a stick and cut into the earth with it. You need to divert yourself somehow and I know the feeling to cut can be overpowering.
Get yourself some safety scissors, a bunch of old magazines and some poster board or just a bunch of paper; then just go to town cutting pictures out that you identify yourself with. On one side of poster board put pictures that identify with the bad part of your life and on the other side put pictures of how you would like your life to be. It's very therapeutic. Good Luck!

If you know the truth about what goes on after suicide. If you are destinied to pass on at certain age, and you choose to die before the right time, your soul will be earth bound till the day you were actually supposed to die. And that's not fun.

Please talk to your parents, a counselor, or some other adult. You may be ready to stop, but you need to deal with the feelings that caused you to cut to begin with or you might want to cut again.
God bless you and please talk to someone live, not just chatting with strangers.

Do not blame yourself for the worlds problems. it's not your fault.
Blame it on the government. There have been many important people that came from modest beginnings.
