Some herbs help. Try tea with valerian root. Antihistamines like Benadryl are sedating and some people find them helpful for anxiety. Of course, lots of non-prescription approaches can help with anxiety: light exercise, meditation, relaxation training (or guided imagery tapes), yoga, etc.
Alcoholic drinks are used a lot for anxiety, but I wouldn't recommend heavy or daily use...

Actually yes. I have found Pantothenic Acid (one of the B vitamins) to be quite helpful. When I first start taking them, I take 2 tablets, and then repeat this every four hours for a couple of days. After that I gradually slow it down to 1 tablet, twice a day.
You will notice the benefit of this vitamin possibly right away. But in order to get it built up in your system, you need to maintain a regular dosage. You should take a multivitamin with it, and even though there is such a thing as a "Stress Formula" multi vitamin; this will not give you the quick results you will get from the Pantothenic Acid.
If you check out the homeopathic section of your health food store, you will find they have a product called Anxiety Relief which contain several herbs and salts blended in one tiny pill. This pill is taken under the tongue, where it disolves on contact, and will give you an almost instant relief from anxiety.
I would reccomend that you take the time to consult the sales staff of the Health Food store, many of whom are trained in benefits of homeopathic remedies. Be sure and ask them. If not, ask to speak with someone who is.
Peace to you.

My suggestion is to learn meditation and relaxation techniques. The breathing you learn will help you tremendously. There are no over the counter drugs for anxiety, unless you went to the herbs sold in health stores. I have a prescription for valium (for anxiety) and tried the herbal drugs and breathing learned in meditation and relaxation. The last works best. You only need to learn a few techniques for anxiety. It not relaxes you but empowers you because you know that you have it within you to control the anxiety. Google it, or go to a natural healing center near you.

Yes.
EXERCISE. Try to exercise 3 times a day. You will burn off the excess energy that often leads to anxiety. Eventually, the schedule of the exercise itself will be soathing. You'll also feel better ... and look better ... which will aid in the anxiety.
EXERCISE.
(by the way, St. John's Wort {which I take} is a natural herb to help with depression, which is different from anxiety. SJW may actually make your anxiety worse, because it is a type of nervous system stimulant.)
EXERCISE.

There are herbal teas, such as chamomile. Check out alternative medicine web sites for info. on other possibilities. Always do your homework before you try something new and always good to check with your doctor first, especially if you are taking other meds.
