cats shed alot they do not moult . birds moult. you must brush your cat daily. start out slow if it is not used to brushing. they usually shed spring of the year so keep it under control with a cat brush, they also shed when they are sick or stressed. we have a large maine coon who begs to be brushed. if they are not brushed they have a tendancy to get hairballs and gag and cough and throw up trying to get rid of them and they can cause blockages you may also rub vaseline down there front legs . when they lick thier fur it helps the hair balls pass on out and prevent blockages. do not trim the cat unless he has alot of matts. the continued brushing will help this problem but be consistant

Depends on what time of year it is, some noshedding cats which are long haired should have their coats trimmed in early to midsummer to help keep them cool, but not after september because of fall and winter setting in soon after.

You only need to get her groomed if she has lots of mats. Try switching her food to a premium food (not the cheap grocery stuff) as this will help immensely. Also, try a shedding blade (available at any local pet store) & brush her regularly.
Doing all of this will help her look, and feel, better.
Good luck!

i work as a pet groomer/ vet tech. and having long hair cats shaved down at times can be very helpful. also you may want to have a vet check her out to see if it would be a good choice for her. its not good for all breeds to get trimmed.
