I suppose what I am looking for is those who are no longer seeking the pie in the sky that some call heaven.
And maybe, just a little - I am poking the bear. I understand that Christians are taught to love one's neighbour; to turn the other cheek. Yet, the slightest suggestion that someone thinks them a bit silly draws out "burn in hell" comments!
I just think it would be a more enjoyable life without all that self-righteous paranoia.

Regarding the "hostility" some have perceived in this question - I think it's a reaction to the outright anger and rudeness of many self-proclaimed Christians as shown to non-Christians here in general.
It always seems to boil down to
"You're wrong."
"No, you're wrong."
"Oh yeah? Well, you're gonna burn in hell!"
"Yeah? Well, you're an idiot!"
...and so on and so forth. The angriest responses, by far, seem to come from the Christians. Maybe that's why I'm hostile: Pre-emptive disdain.

I was raised christian, or is that browbeaten?, lol
Anyhow, I hid my true beliefs for a long time, out of respect and yes fear of hurting my mother. After she passed, I began to actively study and practice the Old Religion-Paganism.
The only way I know how to explain the improvement in my life is that now, it is more.....more peaceful, serene, stable, spiritual....just more. And to certain people who may read this, there is not a little horned man sitting on my shoulder whispering evils in my ear (sarcasm).
I feel more complete, whole inside. Something that Christianity didn't give me.
And before people start ranting that I didn't read my bible or study or tried for that matter, I did read my bible, (three times cover to cover as a matter of fact!), I studied and tried my best to live in a Christ-like manner.

Actually I no longer call my self a Christian. I currently think of myself as a follower of Jesus. This has been a good choice for me because I finally realized that I could no longer believe in the judgmental punishing Christian God. I am far happier with my current unconditionally loving God.
This was a good choice for me, but I realize that it would not be right for everyone. I am more concerned about you and the hostility you obviously have toward Christians. This hostility is not something that is good for you in the long term. I find your question to be derogatory and judgmental. If there were no hostility it would not have come out the way it did.
Check your thoughts about this carefully my friend and ask your self this question about these thoughts.
What am I thinking that God would not have thought, and what am I not thinking that God would have me think?
Consider these things carefully and make the necessary changes to bring your thoughts more into line with the thoughts of God. If you can do this it will bring you the peace you seek on this subject.
Love and blessings dear friend.
Your brother

There is no such thing as a former Christian unless you mean some one who was a Baptist, Catholic, Presbyterian, Methodist, or any other man made religion. But if you were truly a Christian as the Word of God talks about than that is whole different thing. So if you have gotten mad at God ,well He can take it and will bring you back to Him. But if you are disillusioned by so called religious people than that's sad. When you reach the Throne Of God He will not want to know about how you don't like religion, but how could you have rejected His Love!

i'm going to anticipate which you at the instant are an Atheist, definite? As for whether Christ existed or no longer, or whether there became a resurrection or no longer, keeps to be to be seen. You grant no logical data that each and one and all this became a hoax, you in basic terms declare this is a hoax. you weren't there interior the process the time of Christ. For a narrative jointly with this to be so widespread, there a minimum of ought to have been some form of guy or woman who shook the religious and political company in the time of that element. whether Christ, or ought to I call him via his authentic call, Yeshua, did miracles, keeps to be to be seen. As for cutting-part-day interpretations and traditions, those I evaluate the biggest hoaxes in historic previous, jointly with Christmas, Easter, etc. those are a mixture of heathen practices, with a sprinkle of Biblical interpretations. organic Christianity became corrupted whilst the final of the apostles finally died. From there on, this corruption has brought about misery as much as in the present day and age.

I studied Christianity amongst other religious/theological doctrines for a number of years...I find the values in all I've had experience in, and utilize them together. I don't really "label" or "contain" my soul to one particular "path," so-to-speak...I found values in Christianity I still use today, but you'll have to be more specific...and a little less hostile, maybe...

Why are you so hostile? It seem like you're the one whose life needs improving, not ours.
