I would head to the ER or call the ER of your local Hospital and speak with a nurse.
Are you saying your mom won't stop crying or the baby? I was thinking of the baby.

Wow, have those who answered you ever had it happen to them? Your mom probably has post partem depression. How do I know? Because I have it too! I cried for over a week after my baby was born. I couldn't even go out in public without crying. And the crying was all over my baby. Finally I went to the doctor, she prescribed me something, and I feel much better. Heck, my depression got so bad in such a short period of time, I couldn't stand to be around my own baby. Just his cry would make me cringe, and I would want to run away and hide. I even had thoughts of throwing him through a window. I had to have my meds upped after only being on them for 4 months. I started on a low dose, still have a pretty low dose, my the crying has stopped, don't want to hurt the baby, and can enjoy my little one who is five months old now.
If your doctor won't call back, get her into another doctor asap. You don't want her to get any worse. She really needs you right now, keep helping, you're doing great and your concern is wonderful. Hang in there, I hope things get better for everyone.
If it's the baby who won't stop crying it could be few things. The ones that come to mind are colic, or acid reflux. My baby has h ad acid reflux since birth and I learned I needed to feed him sitting up, elevate his crib mattress a little bit, and feed him less and more often. Also burp them really well. My pediatrician also put him on a really low dose of zantac syrup, and it has helped tremendously.
You were kind of unclear as to who was crying so, hopefully covering both ends helped and gave you somewhere to start. Good luck and congratulations on the new baby.

your mom won't stop crying? or the baby?

If it is your mom, she is probably worried about the baby, which is understandable. You can tell her about my nephew. He was born at home more than 2 months early and weighed about 2 pounds. The rescue workers took him to the hospital in a SHOE BOX!!! Today he is 30 years old and over 6 ft tall!

Now, if it is some type of post partum depression, i would keep an eye on her. Perhaps you should let your father know (if he doesn't know already.) She may need some help.

Is the baby okay? Is the baby still in the hospital because it was born prematurely? Many women suffer from depression after they have a baby. It is called postpartum depression, and happens because all of the mothers' chemicals and hormones in her body have just been overworked to the limit. Do you have an older brother or sister or Dad you can talk to about this. You need to get an adult involved that can help your Mom so that she will feel better. Does your Mom have a close friend that you can talk to??? Ask someone in your life about this because even though we can try our best to explain what is going on with your Mom, we are all strangers and cannot really help her or you or the baby from hundreds and probably thousands of miles away. Best of luck to you all. God bless you.

Your mother is under a lot of stress right now in addition to all the hormonal fluctuations. The best thing you can do for her is to ask her how you can help and do everything you can to actually help. If you have other siblings, help with them. Help around the house. Call other relatives to get advice since they know your mother better that we do here. You may have to suggest the ER if you are concerned about her for a medical reason and the doctor won't call back. However, if it's overflowing emotions, give her time. Above all, be supportive and understanding.

She is suffering from post-partum depression. She really needs to seek out professional help. If it this issue is left unresolved it could cause problems with the baby later.

Researchers believe that postpartum depression can affect the infant by causing delays in language development, problems with emotional bonding to others, behavioral problems, lower activity levels, sleep problems, and distress. It helps if the father or another caregiver can assist in meeting the needs of the baby and other children in the family while mom is depressed.

Depression after pregnancy is called postpartum depression or peripartum depression. After pregnancy, hormonal changes in a woman's body may trigger symptoms of depression. During pregnancy, the amount of two female hormones, estrogen and progesterone, in a woman's body increases greatly. In the first 24 hours after childbirth, the amount of these hormones rapidly drops back down to their normal non-pregnant levels. Researchers think the fast change in hormone levels may lead to depression, just as smaller changes in hormones can affect a woman's moods before she gets her menstrual period.

Post PARTUM depression can happen to any mother that has just given birth. She could also be worried about the baby being early. Just keep trying to call the doc and be there to hug and support your mom. She'll be okay! Hugs!
