You may be to young to know what "love" is, adults sometimes refer to it as "puppy love". Love is many things, and comes in many ways, it takes time for love to build, and time to maintain love. To love another, is not the same as loving a child, which is not the same love for a sibling as example.

Yeah they really are afraid of losing you. Try to think and be in their shoes for a moment. You would also be mad and at the same time afraid of losing your own daughter to some guy who you've not yet known and trust that much. Introduce the guy to your parents. Take your relationship with your boyfriend slow. Earn your parents trust. Take care and God bless ^_^

My parents flipped when I said I loved my boyfriends. They told me I was too young to understand what love really is. And, 2 months later, I realized they were right.

Unfortunately they know what they're talking about. Its the "been-there-done-that" syndrome and they are trying to protect you from getting hurt. Especially if you are a teen. Teen love has a short life... it is extremely rare when it lasts beyond high school. They can warn you until their face is blue, but you won't listen. Once it happens you won't forget it. I wish you luck.

Someone who doesn't know what promiscuous means can't really know what love is. Obviously not mature enough. When kids say they're in love, they either mean "I want sex" or "I want to spend the rest of my life with you even though I have no sense of the future and am completely blind to your flaws, even if you drink your own weight daily and beat me senseless."

Because they know what is involved in being "IN LOVE". It is a total emotional, spiritual, physical commitment to a life partner. So you might as well just be saying I F*U*C*K my life partner. Depending on your age, that is alarming news to a parent. So parents don't like to think of their child in this manner.

Because they know that you're too young to understand what real love means. They are also probably concerned that you may experiment with things that you are not mature enough to handle.
