Have you ever heard of Helen Keller? She was a Christian and was blind and deaf. If someone had not been taught how to communicate then I am guessing God would handle this the same way as a young child.

If Tommy is with enough to play a mean game of pinball, then he is with it enough to do anything.
Someone here once said something about the girl that was deaf and dumb and how her teacher taught her to pray and she got into it very easily.
Next, there is a view called Pre-destination. It is said God intentionally makes some people predestined to things. Some are evil people, murders, insane. Others are mute, Downs syndrome, deaf and dumb. God makes these people this way and it is believed he has a separate plan for them. Maybe they get an automatic ticket to heaven because they are some tool or devised for some purpose. No one truly knows for sure, we have hints from the Bible but when push comes to shove only God knows for sure.
It's hard to believe God would forsake someone because they can't readily comprehend things.

Ah, but Jesus also makes the blind to see and the deaf to hear. On the day of Judgment, when all history is brought to its conclusion, everyone will rise from the grave with new bodies and behold the Son of Man in his splendour, and if Tommy is a good and humble lad he will rejoice at the Savior and be made fit for the Kingdom of Heaven.

Same as with little children who are under the age of accountability(different with different kids); God takes them to Heaven.
Jon 4:11 And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and [also] much cattle?
1Ti 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
Rom 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed [it] unto them.
Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
However, I don't believe such a person exists.

Each person is held accountable according to his or her own abilities. Helen Keller was saved. God is at the same time completely fair and completely merciful, so rest assured someone who is too young or not mentally competent enough to understand Christ's offer of salvation, or has never heard the truth about God, will be judged differently than someone raised in a Christian home and yet has turned from God. Great question, I wish I could answer it more completely.

Just like everyone else in the world, Tommy has to meet his maker. Since we know that god is Merciful and Compassionate, I doubt Tommy will have to much trouble, but that is in God's hands.
Anyway, I don't believe one simple prayer is all that is required to go to heaven, because I am Catholic; We try to take more care when interpreting the truth.

Are you saying they cannot communicate at all?
If not, see Romans 2:11-16
For God does not show favoritism. All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them.) This will take place on the day when God will judge men's secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.

oh sweetheart.. blessed are those who do not know of the Good News, because then when they pass , perhaps God Himself will teach them. I cant remember where i read it, but those who do not know anything of Christ or anything will go to Heaven. How can sin be their faults when they didn't know it was bad and that they can be forgiven? can u punish someone who doesnt know what punishment is, cant see u, hear u, talk, or understand right from wrong? God created justice, u can trust in Him to take those who are His hun..its all good as long as its God...they are like children... and the kingdom of God belongs to such as these

Helen Keller was both blind AND deaf and she had a better concept of God and Christ than most people who can see and hear.
Jesus said"By the light you are given, so you shall be judged".
