I know some people get upset and there really are too many handicapped spaces at the mall because no body ever use them all even at christmas. I get mad at my mom because sometimes she goes and parks in the spot even if I'm not with her just so she can park up front. I tild her thats wrong.

It's definitely wrong for your mom to use those parking spots when you're not with her.

I think it's perfectly acceptable for people with motility handicaps to have closer parking spaces, though.

I totally think it's fair that handicapped people get closer spaces. I work in a pharmacy and we not only have handicapped spaces, but elderly spaces. I think those are fair as well because I see a lot of elderly people who have problems walking. I get angry when people park in the spots that aren't eldery or handicapped.

I went to the mall during Christmas once and my friends car has a handicapped tag on it because sometimes her grandpa, who is handicapped, rides in the car. He wasn't with us, but she wanted to park there anyway. I got so angry and wouldn't let her do it. Granted the space was open, but if someone who needed the spot came along I would have felt HORRIBLE knowing that I am perfectly capable of walking into the store from a farther space and yet I made someone else who can't walk. I can't do that.

So yes, I I do think it's fair they have those spaces. I agree with you, it's not fair for people to use them even if they have a tag that says they can if the person who is handicapped isn't with them.

Yes it's fair. There are some handicapped people that need it. If your car's parked in a handicapped space without the plaquard or plates, the fine isn't cheap. You're also at risk for having your vehicle towed at YOUR expense. Tow trucks around here love to cruise the parking lots, looking for handicap violations. I have a plaquard & only use it when I have to, usually at Wal-Mart or Target. I don't mind walking a little bit farther for the exercise. Why do I have a plaquard? That's my personal business.

I think that people who are actually handicapped should use the parking spots. But, people who are related to someone who is handicapped use them, I believe that is wrong. My dad's mom use to do that, and she wasn't handicapped. Because when they are using those, real people who are handicapped don't get to. Also something that is unfair: I went to a store the other day, and I saw an extremely over weight woman riding around in one of those wheel chairs, and right after that I saw a poor old man using a walker, and he was walking. People these days I'm telling ya.

I think that is ok but what is not okay is when others that have handicaps that are hidden are not able to get those spaces b/c a) they can't tell anybody what the problem is for fear of retribution, b) the doctor makes it difficult for them to get the permit or it is considered "unacceptable" to present oneself as handicapped and use the space even if you have the permit, c) everyone thinks "she is okay; why is she parking there?" which is wrong, b/c a person can have a mental handicap or can hide the handicap very well.

I want to thank you for asking that question b/c you gave me a chance to speak my mind on this subject. I had nobody to talk to about this.

Yes, I think it is fair for handicapped people to get the best parking spots. Those spots are wider than regular parking spots to make getting in and out of the vehicle easier. It's often not near as easy for a person with a handicap to get around as it is for someone who does not have a handicap.

I also think it is wrong for people to use a handicap parking spot when they have no handicap or have no one with a handicap riding with them.

What used to piss me off is that when I was in college ever single space in the lot would be full except for a whole row of handicapped spots. I felt like they had way too many and there was no place to park.

Also when I was in the Air Force my building that I worked at had 4 handicapped spots in it. This was stupid. One of the requirments for working there was you couldn't be handicapped. So there was never, not one time, a car parked in one of those spots (after they told us to quit parking there)

I think that it is totally fair. I get so mad when non-handicapped ppl park in those spots. They are saved for a reason. Some ppl are just too lazy to walk, like those who will follow me while I'm walking to my car in the college parking lot to see if I have a close spot and flip me off if I don't.

do no longer pay the $3 hundred. I had a matching incident. After an exceedingly heavy snowstorm I parked at a service Station the place the handicap image became on the floor and lined with snow. once I got here out of the service Station a Cop became writing me a value ticket. I made element of pointing out that the sign became no longer seen. in accordance to the Cop, the value ticket could have been $3 hundred and my motor vehicle could have been towed. some weeks later, on an identical service station, a handicap sign, related to a cement block became in front of this vehicle parking area. signs and indicators for handicap parking areas would desire to be of course seen. through fact of this i did no longer would desire to pay the value ticket. seem in courtroom and you will win.

Are you parking close to go into a particular store? Or are you parking close because you can and you want to go ALL over the mall twice? I'm going to be walking when i get in there any way so I don't care where you park besides if i park out a ways you are less likely to hit my car with yours.
good luck
