hi there, sounds to me like you are letting your wrist turn in to the pull preasure, as i don;t know what strenght of bow you are using, i can't say its to heavy for you,but if your strong enough to pull and hold it then you should be able to shoot it properly.some bows like browning offset their strings to the outside by a quarter of an inch, this dosen;t help a new shooter as it brings your forarm closer to the string making you have to cock your wrist to the outside to give more clearance.so try this,,, keep your wrist as straight a possible,as you draw let the bow handle pull into the crotch of your hand, do not grip the handle, keep your four fingers pointed straight out, now is the time to make sure your wrist is straight , now bring your top finger in and just touch your thumb tip, sight and fire. if the string hits your arm, on the next shot ,do everything the same but rotate your wrist out a little, keep doing that untill you get the clearance you need, once you are shooting clear you must practice getting that same grip and pull everytime.using a release is a good start because it lets the string run in straighter than using your fingers. hope this helps you out,,, have fun shooting and be safe.

The string is coming in contact with your fore-arm. I've gotten all bruised up when shooting with my friends. Try getting a bracer. They don't cost that much. Happy Hunting

You are holding the bow wrong, The bowstring should never contact anything. Also it will throw your accuracy off.

Try rotating your shooting hand out a little. change your grip

dont feel bad the string hits me too... i had my grandpa make me a peice of leather that fits aournd my elbow so the string just hits the leather, but they sell things to cover up your arm at walmart or any hunting store.... good luck!!

burnie hada good answer but if that don't work check your draw length if it is too long you will have a tendency to lock your elbow to get your anchor point this will throw your forearm in.your elbow should b bent just slightly so as not to lock it

I believe this is totally natural - that's why they sell arm guards. My brother had one that was made out of animal hide - it may be something that you want to look into.
