My parents had lots of problems communicating with each other not to mention substance abuse and mental illness. I learned from their mistakes what NOT to do so yes, I attain to do a better job than they did.

I hope so, but my child is still pretty young so I can't be sure yet! But I think my husband and I have tried to learn from our parents' mistakes without carrying over a lot of bitterness about them. I think parents of our generation are much more informed about good communication and ways of helping your child develop well than our parents were--or at least have access to more resources that can help our families.

Since I can say that all of my children (4) are perfect.... yes I have done a better job.
