Great question! People simply do not think or, ever, study language. Love is a decision to prioritize. It is a dedicating of the will. Love is a verb, something that is done. Problems arise when people call infatuation, obsession, admiration, or, even, obligation, love.

Love is when you are able to seek the higher good of another ....and completely put aside your own wants and needs. Love is going to higher ground, it is loving when it would easier not to love. Love is knowing that love will break your heart and then loving anyway, throwing caution to the wind and with arms wide open embracing the chance to love and possibly break your own heart......and doing it joyfully. Love is chance. Love is endurance. Love is responsibility. Love is life's calling. Love is for the sake of love and nothing more.

Well I have been with the same person for 10 years. And I can say it's forgiving it doesn't hold grudges, you look past little imperfections
it's not jealous. And you can struggle together, you have disagreements and are able to move past them no two people think alike if you don't disagree somethings wrong. Many people confuse love with lust and infatuation.

Ideally, Love is caring for another's well being to a degree that makes you want to be the best you can be while helping them become the best they can be. It is not destructive, but rather constructive. It requires 100% commitment, honesty, forgiveness, and the ability to allow your "loved one" the freedom to be him/herself. It can be totally one sided meaning you can love someone without them ever loving you back.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails...
