Maybe since you want something different, inexpensive, and you're not a good cook, you should ask everyone to bring a small dish and have a sort of potluck party. Or, try cooking up some chicken wings or boxed chicken nuggets or popcorn chicken in the oven, and buy or make a bunch of different sauces to go with them.

Make little smokies and BBQ sauce in your crock pot - or even a pan on the stove. Get a bunch of little smokies and cover with BBQ sauce.
Or make pigs n the blankets.- Get little smokies and crescent rolls - roll out the crescent rolls and cut to fit smokies - roll smokies in them and bake until golden.
Nachos - Get some con queso in the jar and heat - fry up some hamburger and add to cheese - have refried beans in a bowl, sour cream, nacho chips, and whatever else you want to add.
have a bowl of m&m's and peanuts to snack on.
Chips and dip
Instead of a dinner - just do different things as snacks for people to eat. A variety is always good.
Have fun!
I also like the idea of a sundae bar for them to eat for dessert.
Have different toppings, nuts, candy - crushed cookies etc.

How old is your daughter?
That might make a difference because younger kids are a lot harder to make food for.
I like the large sub sandwitch personally, or for a more grown up taste wraps. You can either get these in a party tray or make them yourself. :)
Some pretty sandwitch wraps (any flavor as long as they look good)
deli meat
cheese
leafy greens
and some cream cheese to hold it all together.
layer everything evenly on the wrap leaving some room on one end because the stuff tend to move that way. Roll tight starting with the end that isn't bare (don't roll like a burrito roll like a jellyroll so that you get that pretty look in the end.) when you are done, stick three or four toothpicks in them and cut them with a sharp knife.
Other things you could try with this:
Tuna salad
Adding other spreads besides just cream cheese like pesto, or honey mustard
use different color wraps for different meats
or buy them at the store already done and plate them up yourself :)

try nachos bar. nacho chips, cheese, olives, jalepeno for the adults. Make a hoaggie sandwich and cut up into different sizes fill sandwiches with your kind of deli meat, wrapp it up and put it in the fridge till your ready to serve. Dont put mayo or anything wet on it until you are ready to serve it you can put mayo and other spreads on the side so if people want it they can add it . Keep the cheese for the nachos warm in a crock pot on low, in advance prepare olives and jalepenos or what ever else you want to put on your nachos. Also serve sundaes instead of cake at a b-day party set out the toppings so kids can make there own sundays. if not hamburgers and hotdogs are always easy with chips.

(L)
Courses

Little meatballs and sweet & sour vegetables
Classic Italian antipasto

Rice timbale with stone bass

Rolled roast pork, stuffed
with spinach and mortadella
Green salad with apples and walnuts

Cocoa Christmas spiced bread
Seasonal fruit

Wine

Italian Prosecco
Malvasia di Pantelleria

This is a menu that everybody can realize and its best peculiarity is every dish can be prepared in advance: appetizers, rice timbale to be baked in the last minutes, rolled roast pork that you have to preserve in the refrigerator and, finally, the cake. You have only to slice apples just before dressing and serving green salad.
We suggest this menu for Christmas but you can make it in every moment in the year; the only thing is to change dessert.
We suggest a good Italian Prosecco for accompanying all the courses. Prefer a dessert wine with the cake.

Cater it. Call a local deli or even a gourmet supermarket and see what they suggest. No cooking, just pick up and clean up later. This way you can enjoy the party without running in and out of the kitchen.
