I'm looking for a roadbike and definitely want something that is going to be easy on my back... looking to do alot of long road bikes... comfort and some speed are important to me, but I don't need the lightest bike in the world.... suggestions?

in my personal experience, your back will always be alittle sore/ tired. btu as you continue to ride, it shouldn't be painful. I have always liked specialized, but make sure that the frame is teh right size for you, that will play a big part. if you are looking for a good seat, i would go and buy a different one than one that what comes with the bike. another thing that is good is to change your hand position nad seating position often. especially on long rides.

Just make sure the bike fits you. Make sure you try other sizes in the same category and compare. Just don't go strictly with your local tech guy's sizing. If he/she suggest a 53, then try something that is 51, just to see how you feel on it, for example. A size for Specialized won't always fit you like the same number size on a Cannondale, for example, if you know what I mean.

Other than that, all riding will give you some "creeking" in your back- especially long rides.

I'm sure the Specialized will be great for you.

Cheers, and good riding!

Man, you'd be nuts to buy that bike if you're looking for:

1) something easy on your back
2) long rides
3) comfort is important to you
4) you don't need the lightest bike in the world

To meet those criteria that you set out, you need to be looking at bicycles made by Rivendell, Heron, SOMA, Surly, Kogswell, etc.

If you are on the right bicycle, you'll NEVER have creaking in your back, even on the longest rides.

You know where to find me...
