yes, all Christians (yes all) have fallen short of the glory of GOD.
While smoking is a bad habit of mine, and i know that my body is a temple for GOD, I also know that I need to work on this area of my life.
As with all habits and things that are not within the will of GOD, overeating, drunkeness, etc.
A good Christian knows their shortcomings and works on them throughout their life. For instance, if I quit smoking, there are still many many other things I will have to continue working on.
I will never be perfect as long as I am drawing breath on this earth.

God wants you to treat your body like the temple He designed it to be. Meaning to do good things to keep you healthy. But if smoking is something you want to do even if you know the risks then it will not prevent you from being a good Christian. That is a habit that will not distract you in your walk with Him.

just as some of the others have said, you can't be a good christian and do things like smoke and cuss. You can still be a christian, but when you are abusing the body, that's not good.

The problem with trying to stay good and smoke is that anything which you are addicted to will eventually bring you down. If you do not addresss the smoking situation, pride will set in. Then pride will allow other nuances to come into your life such as sickness and demons. In addition, it could be disastrous for you if you take communion and are still smoking cigarrettes. In one of the books in Corinthians. People were partaking of Christ and not examining their lives. Consequently, sickness came upon them. This was the chastisement of the Lord upon them.

Well....you can be a Christian and still smoke. I'm a Christian and I love smoking. It's people that hate it, and I don't blame them.

When you go for a bath, do you get cleaned up first? Christ will clean up your life and you dont have to do anything first. I have talked to people who were Christians and smoked. They wanted to quit and they said that God had them focus on other issues first. Later, when God said smoking was next on the list, they were able to quit.

The Bible doesn't mention smoking. People who try to find a verse in the Bible to condemn smoking usually pass by the verse that warns about being "mastered" by something and go on to misinterpret this verse about the body being the temple of the Holy Spirit that clearly says that the only way to sin against your body is to engage in sexual sin.
1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
But if you go back just a few verses you can find something that is applicable to habit forming practices like smoking.
1 Corinthians 6:12 "All things are lawful for me," but not all things are helpful. "All things are lawful for me," but I will not be enslaved by anything.
So a person who is a Christian and who smokes has to examine what role smoking plays in their life. Does it interfere with serving God? Is it more important for them to have cigarette money or to put money in the collection plate? If the answer to these questions is that it doesn't interfere with their walk with Christ then smoking falls under the precept contained in this passage.
Romans 14:22 The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who has no reason to pass judgment on himself for what he approves.
In other words it is between the believer and God but they shouldn't go around people who don't share their faith that smoking is OK and smoke in front of them just in case they might be tempted to smoke and not have faith that it really isn't a sin because as the passage goes on to say...23 But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats (smokes), because the eating is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.
If a person thinks something is a sin and it really isn't but they believe that they are committing a sin then in their heart they are in fact sinning by going against what they believe God's will to be.

Yes, The way my pastor tells me is we all still walk in the flesh. I know this sounds kinda strange. It is the flesh that we walk in not the spirit that has temptations like smoking. I believe we are not perfect and that is when God forgives us for our wrong doings. I know this kinds sounds jumbled but I hope you get what I am trying to say.
