I'm not specifically a Christian although years of Catholic and Episcopalian schooling have warped me as much as any Christian I know. I don't have anything against Oprah, I think she's very talented and has worked hard to achieve her success. However, I guess I'm most in tune with the response that notice that a diamond studded crucifix doesn't fit in with the life of a carpenter who washed his apostles feet, suffered and died without wealth.

I've always found it perverse when people mix showoffiness with Christianity. You see it every Sunday in church parking lots.

Is it worse than the modern day pharisees that will make someone kiss the ring on their finger?
Or the protestant leaders that have millions in personal accounts, claiming God as blessed them?
Trust me it all shows.
However, we need to keep open about it, because, as hard as it is to believe, they may change and accept the necessary truth. Pray they do.
Christ will judge based on heart condition also. Let's hope they see that before the time comes.
Branching off here a little, is it wearing the cross that bothers you, or wearing the the diamond studded cross? After all, she does have the money to spend you know.

I find ALL Cruciforms disgusting.
If your brother or sister were killed by a knife, would you have the knife "silvered" or "gold-leafed" and wear it?
Then why the cross? It HAS no special meaning. NONE. No where is it in the Bible besides one maybe two verses. This is simply another thing that man has done to TWIST gods word and worship something other than God through Christ Jesus.
Be "open" about it? I don't think so. God has requirements, Worshipping the cross isn't one of them.
As far as Oprah goes, hey, its her money, she can spend it how she pleases, SHE EARNED EVERY PENNY as far as I'm concerned!

First I find it charming and delightful, and that should really count for something cause I don't even like her.
That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. Not only that, why, how could you ever find that perverse? Or maybe your definition of the word perverse is not the same as mine, hell, what do I know.
Or maybe you some religious purist or whatever, huh? Tell us please.

Why? She can afford it. It's not like she stole it.
I love Oprah. She's brilliant and worked for her empire. She didn't just inherit it like some celebutantes who are "worshipped".

She has made it clear publicly that she does not Believe in Jesus. She does believe in a god that you can make up anyway you want. Her 'cross' is purely ornamental.
