1. Parents don't FORCE people to become Christians.
2. Brainwashing is fair if they are promoting atheism then? You seem to have a low value in parents, hmm.
3. So?
4. Hindus won't hurt a fly but they and Buddhists can and have waged wars for thousands of years. Islam, the supposed religion of peace had most of their early "converts" from a wonderful choice of convert or die.
5. Athiests have never, ever killed (What were Hitler and Stalin, by the way?)
6. Oh, you mean that God doesn't like some things here and there or that He had whole nations destroyed? But then non-Judeo/Christian cultures like Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Rome, etc. wiped out whole nations of people. Even the US history is full of completely destroying dozens of American Indian nations.
7. Look again, we have fragments of passages that were written in the first century, that line has been discredited long ago.
8. Yep, and we do that with US laws all the time. When was the last time you drove without a seatbelt or have you always obeyed the speed limit or stopping completely at every red octagonal sign?
9. Many are, but not all, and a hundred years ago and before most of the big names were Christian.
10. So big "skydaddy" has to leave a crumb trail just for you, eh? BTW, tell me how if we are, according to NASA's Hubble telescope people, we are close to peering to the very beginning of the universe, if light only travels at the same speed everywhere always, but matter comparatively crawls, how do we get to just now view light that was emitted when the universe had been freshly minted? Organisms evolve, going from lower form to higher form, from less complex to more complex, how did the lower lifeforms manage to build that crazy chemical design and operational program called DNA/RNA? We so recently compared ourselves with chimps and found about 35 million differences. Whoo hoo, we may have had similar ancestors some 6 million years ago, but we still haven't a clue how to become so radically diverse in the meanwhile--just how does this happen? Does it still happen? Hmm....

1) Most athiest parents force their children to become atheists, which violates children's right to choose their own belief.
2) Children should study all beliefs including Christianity before getting brainwashed by their parents.
3) Lots of ancient myths are very similar to bible stories, and since myth is often considered to be based, at least in part, on true events, this underscores the belief that many of the stories in the Bible are true.
4) Atheists have killed millions in the name of Communism.
5) Atheists have killed millions in the name of National Socialism.
6) The Bible also has stunningly beautiful love poems, rules to keep the peace within a society, and calls to love thy fellow man as thyself, among other positive scriptures.
7) Irrelevant
8) People in general prefer to disregard facts and opinions that contradict their prejudices.
9) Irrelevant
10) Irrelevant; religion is about Faith, not empirical evidence.
You aren't looking for an answer... you are just looking to try and score points off people & prove to yourself how much smarter you are than the average christian by asking a loaded question.
If you want a flamewar, go to fark.com; there always seems to be a christian-bashing thread there these days... you can vent your anger there to your heart's content.

Christians, do you really want schools to teach children about christianity?
Would you have a problem with grade schools teaching this?
* Look at it from an unbiased opinion
1. Most Christian parents force their children to become Christians which violates children's right to choose their own belief
- In the same then we shouldn't then teach children the difference between right or wrong. We violate their potential will to become murderers and arsonists. Parents have the right to teach their children what they beleive will benefit them.
2. Children should study all beliefs including Athesim before getting brainwashed by their parents
- Thats true. I go to a catholic college. We learn all about other religions i can tell you all about other religions, it's important to know about other beliefs not only to be able to defend your own but to understand your brothers.
3. Lots of bible stories are very similar to ancient myths
-Ok . not much of an argument there
4. Christians have killed millions in the name of God
- As have other religions. see below.
5. Muslims have killed millions in the name of God
its true.
6. The bible has evil scriptures http://www.evilbible.com
- are these all in conntex. have you read the however many number of pages before it to be able to truly identify its meaning. The bible must also be read allgeorically. most of what is written is not what is being said.
Dont have time for the rest now be back later

1. Since when are parents interested in their children's rights?
2. Since when are people interested in sharing ALL sides of an issue?
3. Why would someone who wants their child to believe in God/god tell their child he is no more real the Easter Bunny or Tooth Fairy? In fact, why do parents punish their children for lying when they lie about all these mythical characters to them?
4. Christians have eloquently named this something with a positive spin.
5. Muslims have eloquently named this something with a positive spin.
6. Christians enjoy discounting everything in the Bible that does not fit their interpretation or any random thing they don't want to abide by.
7. People in my family have elevated my grandmother to sainthood since her passing. If people can't get it right within the last 60 years, how in the world could they get something right from 2,000 years ago?
8. Christians arbitrarily quote whatever fits a specific judgment they are passing on someone. They never apply those same rules to themselves.
9. It's irrelevant since Christians say all atheists are evil, Satan-worshipers who hate Jesus.
10. The evidence is irrelevant. Why else would they need to indoctrinate their offspring to their religion through threats, beatings and other forms of emotional blackmail? If it was really "true" no amount of outside evidence could threaten in.
Disclaimer: Not ALL Christians are this way. Just the majority of them.

Of course they should teach Christianity and other religions.. but the parents may make them be with them and their religion, BUT being taught about others allows them to see who they think is right.. they would eventually learn of other religions, taught in school or not, because now a days, barely anything is kept from kids. even porn. After age 18, and they are legally and metally adults..they would choose their path and take it. So yes, teach all religions... ok, The scientists are Athiest, why? Because %98 of them support evolution (I for one dont believe I came from a frkeing gorilla lol) Today's world munipulates whats real and what not real, there are Christian Bibles that state wrong verses and wrong morals. Most religons are rooted from the Jews religon. Im pretty sure they are, sorry if Im wrong, Im only human. All religons have killed millions, really there are more Christians then other followers of other religons, so of course that bring our death toll higher, but in other religons, they sacrifice their own people, and murder their own people, so technically they have almost the same death toll. They arent being brainwashed if they are being taught about a certain reiligon, its not taking away the kid's right, it teaching and yes of course the parents will make them go to church with them and all. Its not brainwashing, your obviously Athiest (that I would think) I think ive said enough for now... :D

They would have to either take out the subject of history from the class or rewrite history in order not to teach children about Christianity. Teaching about something and telling someone, "you must believe this" is not the same thing. The fact is that western civilization was built by the Catholic Church. Why do you think that kids should be ignorant of that history?

As a christian mother, I object to pubilc schools teaching christianity. By doing so, it opens the door for my children to learn about other "religions" and false gods which paves their way to hell. Yes, I do believe my faith is the true faith. After all, that is what faith is. I am no different than a muslim or hindu. They also believe their faith is the true faith. So, do not crucify me for believing that as well. Faith is to be taught at home by parents. It is not the job of the schools. Furthermore, you lack credibility. I know if an attourney, 3 physicians, 1 physicians assist and a brilliant woman with a Ph.D in mathematics and they all believe in Jesus Christ as their saviour. As far as violating my children, it would be a bigger violation to damn them to hell by not instilling in them the truth of the word of God.

I would like to see a weekly sermon at school where different denominations of Christians could come in and speak. It could be a 30 minute volunteer program and the kids that don't want to go could have study hall.

I think they should teach all religions, so people could decide for themselves, but they must include the bad with the good of each religion.

Hmmmm....just because the top scientists are atheists doesn't necessarily mean that Christians are stupid. Faith and IQ points are not mutually exclusive.
